Remarks

The first thing that attracts you is the placements and the packages. The next great thing about the college is its huge 350 acres campus which is very beautiful, full of greenery, and contains all the best facilities. Admission Process: Here you can get admission through JEE MAINS scores as well as CBSE board percentage. The admission forms are out in May first week and the on-campus spot counseling takes place in July end for the leftover seats. It's preferred over other private colleges because of its location, The campus is in the heart of Patiala city so well connected to the Bus stand, Railway station. Also, Patiala is a very beautiful city with a great variety of food outlets and enjoyable places.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is according to the industry standards and includes a lot of group projects like Truss building, Mangonel, Buggy, etc. I choose Electronics and Computer because of my mixed interest in both codings as well as electronics components. Now coming to the faculty, the student to faculty ratio is quite high due to the increase in the number of seats but the faculty is pretty helping and you can take separate time to clear your doubts. All the teachers hold a Ph.D., some are also from IIT. The 75%attendace criteria vary from teacher to teacher there are some who take it very seriously and some award you 100% attendance on the last day. So gather some information about the teacher and act accordingly. Exams: 1 sessional each happens before the mid sem and end sem exams. The mid sem happen in September last week and the end sem in December first week. It's not very difficult to pass the exams just listen to the teacher during the lectures and you will pass easily.

Internships Opportunities

3

For Internships, the competition is way higher than for full-time placements. The CGPA cutoff for the on-campus internships will be around 9.5. So better try to arrange it off-campus. But if you manage to get an on-campus internship the stipend is about 80k To 100k for 2 months. And that's a good thing about these internships

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements of Thapar are decent, but there is a bit of decline from 2020 onwards. Still, they are far better than many private Engg. colleges of India. Here you will easily get an average package of 6-7LPA. Also, Those hefty packages of 50LPA are mostly grabbed by the IEP (International Engg. Programme ) students but the B.E. students also get these Dream Packages. The Highest domestic package will be around 35 to 40LPA. But you have to work very hard as the competition is very high. If you are taking admission after 2020 you will have to work hard to grab a decent placement as the number of seats has been increased. But you will surely get placed if you do the right amount of hard work in the right direction All the tech giants visit the campus every year and offer good profiles and great packages. Almost 90% of students get placed and the other ones are either preparing for CAT or UPSC or other government exams. I am planning to do a job after getting the degree

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are a bit high in college, it is around 4lakh per year. But there are a lot of scholarships provided, in the first year you get scholarships on the basis of your JEE MAINS rank, and second-year onwards you get scholarships based on your CGPA. The students with 10CGPA get a full refund and the amount decreases for further lower CGPA. If the annular salary is less than 2LPA then you can study free of cost and you just have to pay the hostel charges

Campus Life

4.5

You won't find such an awesome campus and campus life in any other Private College. The fests are also pretty good. The annual cultural fest SATURNALIA is the biggest event of the year And a lot of events are organized by the societies coding and non-coding both types. There are over 30 different societies. It's fun participating in all those. The on-campus and off-campus both lives are awesome, Patiala is a very beautiful city with all destination of food and enjoyment. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned with projectors to display the text faculty writers on their notepads .The library is awesome here with all the modern facilities, group discussion rooms. the seats of the library are very comfortable and you can study with full peace. Sports: The college has huge grounds for all the sports and all the equipment can be issued from the sports center. it also has a swimming pool which has separate timings for girls and boys.

Hostel Facilities

4

Now comings to the hostels, they are good for all the years but in the 3rd and 4th year you get the best hostel M that's a newly built one. it has a great design. The hostels for the 1st and 2nd year are also very good, neat and clean. The washrooms are cleaned daily, so hygiene is not an issue here. The mess food is also average and the mess committee which consists of the students of the hostel and the mess manager decides the menu. So food is not a problem in Thapar. We have a badminton court, TT room, and an AC reading room for studies inside the hostel. WiFi facility is available in all the hostels with a good speed neither too fast nor too slow. In short, you are going to enjoy the best hostel life.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
