PGDAV College of Delhi University- well known for its Commerce dept., professors are well qualified & dexterous. One of the best colleges of South Campus. Newly built infrastructure. Biggest Canteen & one of the best auditoriums. Pink line metro station- Vinobapuri right next to the college. Lajpat Nagar just 5 mins away Lacks the vibe of North Campus. College annual fest not so popular among the students. Admission on the basis of the best of four subjects in 12th class. Cut off lists start coming from June-July. I read reviews on Quora about this college.
I had commerce in 12th and wanted to continue in that field therefore, I went for BCom Hons. You should have Maths in high school to do BCom Hons course from DU. This college is known for its Commerce Dept as the Faculty is experienced and highly qualified. All Professors are very helpful and ready to clear doubts of the students. They teach very well too and most of them are punctual to the classes. There is one teacher for every class of 35 students. Unlike other colleges, the subjects here are not imposed on students as there are sufficient professors for all subjects so students are free to choose their elective subjects. The term exams take place in May and December of every year and exams are not that difficult if the student is well prepared.
The placement cell keeps posting various internship openings on their groups so students can follow them and apply to various companies. Companies also provide a decent stipend to the students.
The placements of the college are decent and are conducted by the Placement Cell of the college. Students can apply for these placements in the final year only and get an offer letter to join just after the college gets over. Some of the big 4's visit the college like EY, WIPRO etc for mass recruitment. Other Companies such as Ginger Webs, ICICI Prudential, Willis Towers Watson etc also come to the college. The average package that students get is around 3 LPA. Various profiles are offered such as Audit Associate, Tax Associate, Management Trainee etc. You can go for Masters or do internships in companies to gain experience.
Delhi University is very affordable. The fees vary from course to course and reservation quota. I dont think there is an option of scholarships here since it is already very affordable. My fees were 14000 in the first year and it came down to 12000 in the final year. There is no semester wise fees. Many Placement Companies come in the final year for recruitment and a lot of those pay well to the graduates.
PGDAV College has improved its infrastructure over the years and half of it is newly built. The Annual college fest is called Aaghaaz which is not so popular but has been improving every year. It is conducted in the month of February. The library is decent & it has books of every subject and journals which is the best part. The new editions of the books are also available. Students who cannot afford to buy books can easily get them issued. In the old building, the classrooms are a little uncomfortable but in the new building, the classrooms look nice with good furniture. A lot of sports are played in the college & teams go for competitions. There's a sports quota too. Students are working really hard to bring the societies to the level of other DU colleges by winning accolades in various competitions. Many depts have formed societies over time. There are many college and society groups running on Instagram by the students.
The placement cell of Sgndkc actively finds companies that are hiring for an intern or for placement and provides this opportunity to students through an official WhatsApp group and on official email ids provided by the college. Students in the 6th semester become eligible for placements both on-campus and off-campus. Companies like Tommy Hilfiger, Decathlon, Wipro, Pwc, Yes Bank have visited for on-campus placement in our college. The highest package offered was around 10lcs p.a. and the average package offered lies between 3lcs-5lacs p.a. The profiles offered to vary from company to company like the no. of sales executive job offer are more than the managerial jobs offered. 70% at an average are placed by the companies which visit the campus for placements. Many students don't take offers as they have plans for further studies. My plan after getting the degree is to prepare for the CAT examination and get into a good college for MBA
The score of placements in college is 7 out of 10. Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester. The highest package offered is around 4-5LPA. A lot of companies visit colleges like EY, De shaw, KPMG, etc. Around 50-60% of students get placed with decent packages.
B.com Hons is one of the Best courses of DU in terms of placement and this is particularly true at SBSC. Big 4 are regular recruiters at SBSC picking up 20-30+ students each. There are also some top-notch consulting companies such as Bain as well as ZS associates that recruit students. The highest package offered was by DE shaw at 20 lakhs PA. The average Package is around 5 lakhs.
Students are eligible for placements from 5th semester. KPMG, EY, Decathlon and many other companies visited the campus for placements. Average package is between 3 - 3.5 LPA. A good percentage of students get placed because a many companies visit every year for placements.
There is a placement cell in the college that informs the students about the companies that visit the college. Final year students can enrol and get through it via tests and interviews. The average package that these companies offer is 3-4 LPA. The highest package that I have come across through the information from the placement cell is 7 LPA. I want to become an accountancy teacher so I would go for M.com after my graduation.
I chose B.com.(Hons.) because I am pursuing Chartered Accountancy as well and subjects are somewhat similar in this course. Talking about the faculty and staff of the college, I can assure you that JDMC has a great team of a teacher who is highly qualified, teachers are friendly and are good advisors as well. For every subject, there are at least 3-4 teachers. Internals are held quite often along with assignments.
The university offers campus placement to its students. After the end of the 2nd year, the student becomes eligible for campus placement. The packages depend from course to course an amount of stipend is clearly mentioned on the university website. I am not planning to go for campus placement as I am already pursuing a course which is CA, because of which I am not interested in the campus placement.
After completing our degree from SOL there is not an opportunity given by the college's all the students are going personally for and giving an interview for the jobs that because this these types of colleges are not giving classes on regular basis.
The college is greatt with a great canteen and a great ground. Extra curricular activities are also great. The college needs to work a little on cleanliness. The college is air conditioned and is well equipped
Overall it was the dream come true moment for anybody who was studying in this University/college because here it was too much fun to be there
