Haldia Institute of Technology is one of the oldest private engineering colleges in West Bengal. It is also one of the best private engineering colleges in WB. One can take admission in HIT through WBJEE or JEE(Main) exam. You can also take direct admission through management quota. HIT has a fairly large campus of approximately 35 acres. But HIT is situated in east Midnapore which is far away from Kolkata. Also the railway transport system is not good here in Haldia, you have to depend on local private or government buses for transportation.
The best departments in HIT are CSE, IT, ECE, Food Technology and Chemical Engineering. In HIT most of the faculty members are highly educated, most of them are post-graduated and some of them are PhD holders. The teacher: student ratio in HIT is approximately 60:1. Though some of the faculties are very good at teaching, most of them give extremely boring lectures in the class. In HIT there is an internal exam almost every month and you can score very good in them if you follow the class lectures.
The on-campus internship opportunity is very limited in HIT. But can obviously go for an off-campus internship. For an off-campus internship, you can visit some websites like Internshala, LinkedIn and many other websites that are present nowadays.
The campus placement is decent. Mainly service-oriented tech companies come here during placement and you can crack them easily. Very few core companies come here. Almost 60-70% of students of CSE, IT, ECE, CHEMICAL, FOOD TECHNOLOGY got placed during campusing. The tech companies generally give a package of around 3-6 lacs.
The total cost of b.tech is approximately 3.95 lacs(without hostel fees) and 4.95 lacs with hostel fees. Hostel fees only include room rents. The fees are increased by about 5-10% in every one or two years. You can get tuition fees waiver through wbjee counselling. You can also get an SVMCM scholarship from the West Bengal government.
The campus life is very good in HIT. The classrooms of HIT are big enough and the labs are well equipped. The central library is one of the great things in HIT, here you can get all kinds of books necessary for semester exams and also for the gate, UPSC. In HIT there are two football grounds, a basketball court and also a gym. The annual tech fest of HIT is PRAYUKTI and the cultural fest is RIVIERA which is generally organised in march-April.
In HIT there are separate hostels for boys and girls. There is also a hostel for foreign students. You have to share rooms with two or three of your friends but the rooms are big enough to accommodate three or four people. Every student is given a single bed and a table and chair. The food of mess is decent and the rates are pocket friendly. You can easily get a hostel room during admission to the college. You can also opt fot PG which you can easily find near the college and the rent is also similar.
Students become for campusing from the 7th semester. Companies like Amazon, L&T, Zifo, Practice, Cognizant, Chegg etc have visited our college for placements. The highest package offered was 11 LPA by Amazon. I would opt for post-graduate after I get the degree.
From the 7th semester onwards the students are eligible to participate in the campus placement drive. Companies like TCS, CTS, Amazon, LTI, TCG, Edwisor, BYJUS hire students through online exams, gd and interview sessions. The average package varies between 3.5 to 4 lakh per annum. Core companies like Zifo R&D Solutions also recruit students on campus. Our college also provides pre-placement, training classes. For IT companies an individual needs to develop their coding skills from the beginning and work hard on it. For core companies, students need to have a deeper insight into their respective field and try to undergo training programs during semester breaks to gain a more practical and industry-related approach. I plan to opt for higher studies after graduation.
From the 7th semester, students have become eligible to join the campaign and get the opportunity from the companies. TCS NINJA, Cognizant, TCS, Capgemini, Honda etc companies are the Mas requirements of our college. Our highest package is 30 lakhs per anum, and the average package is 6-7 lakhs. 75% of students get placement every year in many companies. I want to finish my MTech.
Students become eligible for placement after the 5th semester. Companies like TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Siemens, Amazon, ZS, Thoughtworks, Medtronic. BME department has more than 90% placement percentage. The highest package offered is 12 LPA while the average package is 4 LPA. Many students opt for higher studies abroad. I have already cleared GATE BME and so after getting a degree, I want to pursue a Master's degree and research in India/abroad.
Placements are quite good in my department that is ECE. This year the placement offers went up to around 16 LPA. There were some seniors with 2-3 job offers. In short, it was enough as a starting salary for a new graduate student with no experience in India.
The placement is very excellent. After our sixth semester, we are eligible for our campus placement. TCS, byju's , Wipro, cognizant, Intel, Amazon, Microsoft different types of companies come to our college. The highest package is nearly 10-15 lakh per annum and the average package is 3.5-4 lakh per annum. Nearly 85-90 present students get their placement from our college.
As it is a new college only one batch is passed till now. Some of them are placed in TCS, WIPRO, COGNIZANT, INFOSYS, etc. Many of our seniors are placed through off-campus drive also. Some of our seniors cracked the GATE exam with under AIR 900 rank. The highest package is 5lakh and the average package is 3.8 LPA.
JU has a wonderful placement record for students of the fourth year. The highest package is 42lpa while the average is 19 lpa.80% of students become eligible for placements. More than 150 companies visit the campus. While I plan to pursue an MBA degree by giving either CAT/GRE.
From 1st sem, every student is eligible for internship and in the last sem everyone gets a chance to sit in job placement. TCS, Wipro, Adobe and lot more company visits and 10 offers are made nearly. 95 student voting placed. I have a plan of opening my own business.
