Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

As far as course curriculum is concerned it's good and is similar to Indian Institute of technology. But it lacks practical knowledge. Our course is actually concerned with the design and construction of ships and offshore structure but till 5th semester we don't get a chance to see a ship.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, Our college provides internship in various shipyards and design offices. It's compulsory to have 2 months of industrial training before entering to the sixth semester. The stipend is around 8-10 k per month but if you are in a government shipyard neither you will be paid nor you will get any stipend.

Placement Experience

3

Overall placements in our college are good .50 percent gets placed every year in core companies and non-core companies are not invited till now but from this year onwards non-core companies like TCS and some banks will also be called. Some of the companies are Indian Navy, Hindustan Shipyard, Cochin Shipyard,Goa shipyard,Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd.

College Events

3

Our college events can be organised into two categories- one, minor events which are celebrated inside the campus and only involve students and teacher's of the college and second is major events in which various colleges from outside participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure of IMUV is 2.25 lacks per annum which include everything like fooding ,lodging , laundry ,medical facility ,books ,clothes.

Fees and Financial Aid

IMU provide scholarship on the basis of performance in semester exams on merit basis. The topper of every semester is given the scholarship of 1 lakh rupees and the other top 5 are given 75000 rupees.

Exam Structure

Exams and Labs are not hectic .You get ample amount of time to focus on your extracurricular activities.Generally, there are two exams in one semester, first is mid-sem exam which is for 20 marks and other is end semester exam which is for 70 marks and remaining 10 marks is teacher's assessment which is based on the performance and attendance of the student as assessed by the teacher.

Faculty

1.5

Our college Lacks good quality of faculty. And most of the faculties are visiting faculty and in some way it's good but they only take classes of M.tech students.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
