Remarks

The University had a very good website. I read mixed good and bad reviews about the school. The location is smack at the city centre, tuition fee was affordable, I was also able to receive a scholarship, it was a designated learning institution in Canada, and a 5-crown accredited University (like AACBSP), I gave it a try. To my surprise, all the University professors are so great. They are from Hult, Beedie School, UBC Sauder, BCIT, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. They are all very transparent with grading and gives practical challenges to learning through case studies, exams with and without exams if online, presentations, group projects, many written assignments, reflection papers, making reviews on articles, and many more. The teaching standards are world-class. The University is small but it fits people who are on the go. The learning is very applicable to reality in business. The world has changed since the pandemic. We need classes that can offer hybrid MBA like UCW.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

A class would normally range between 18-25 students. The nationality is very varied. The MBA class are mixed between business owners, president of large multinational corporations, and the majority are managerial executives in large companies. The nationality is very well-diverted from Canadian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, European, and many more. Passing the MBA is honestly challenging. I guess all UCW students could attest to that. But if the effort is done seriously, it is not impossible to pass. However, it helps to polish English reading and writing skills since the course has a lot of academic writing and readings. Grading is very transparent. The breakdown of grades is updated to Moodle, where all details of the MBA course are posted. The University is very organized. The new campus looks clean and ok too. It is not difficult to be admitted to the University, but again, survival to finish is not guaranteed since academic assessment is serious. I dont know the ratio of passers.

Internships Opportunities

5

Yes, the last ones that I know are groups of NGOs, Royal Bank of Canada, Amazon, are the few ones I could remember. They conduct online interviews and work invitations for the students in the University. There is also a subject where an MBA student can work and consult for a local Canadian business. Disclosure: I have not experienced doing an internship as I chose not to work. But there are subjects such as WORK 600 wherein the University will place you to work in a local business.

Placement Experience

5

Most of my classmates who wishes to be employed are already working in different positions, and places around Vancouver. The work depends on their backgrounds and their abilities. Some are already in the top management of Multinational companies, while some are in the lower management position. This will really depend on the connections, previous work experience, and ability. According to one of my classmate, it took him 2 weeks to get a job. No classmates were complaining about the difficulty of getting a job so far despite the Covid-19 pandemic. However, some have initially settled to basic jobs available in the service sector to kick-start their career most especially to those who do not have Canadian experience. The good thing is there are social media tools where a student can reach out to fellow students, and alumni should one seek a work opportunity. In my observation, there is a positive response if one seeks help from peers and the professors themselves.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am self-employed so I am not yet sure about employability. I guess a scholarship is not hard to get since you can just write a letter to request it from the school. However, I have not heard of a classmate who got a full-academic scholarship though. It's partial academic scholarship in most cases. Many scholarships can be availed as shown on the University website. I was offered the Southeast Asia grant which came out with the acceptance letter. The total grant was CAD9,720.00- that's big and fair enough. I know a few alumni are working full-time for the University but I dont have any idea as to the arrangement. 5 stars for the value for the money since most professors are from UBC, BCIT, Simon Fraser University. Since its pandemic, there are no facilities except being online and good professors. Content according to profs are the same. So that's value for money at 1/4 the cost especially for international students where public universities are more expensive.

Campus Life

5

There are so many activities available every semester like networking, peer counselling, yoga, blockchain discussions, business podcast and etc. These are offered, e-mailed, and posted on Moodle. I have personally joined the Marketing Association. The professors might even invite you to join chartered management associations and seminars outside of the University. There are many international celebrations in the University, where diversity is very much celebrated. The e-library is available for free on Moodle. The classes are done through Moodle, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. The University will provide everyone with a Microsoft 360 account, a Moodle account, and a school e-mail address. Course submissions are also done through moodle and in most cases, are loaded into Turnitin.

Admission

English proficiency, work experience, and undergraduate degree performance evaluation.

Interview Experience

5

I submitted my resume where I have detailed achievements, work experience, and more. I have also submitted by IELTS which, I have a score of 7.5 on average. I was assigned an academic advisor. My degree was also assessed by an ECA to Canadian equivalency, which I have also forwarded. Original transcripts were forwarded directly to the University. Again, admissions are not that difficult I guess. For that reason, the profs are very good, but the peers during group work will not guarantee you quality result. Some of the students are not interested in learning, but some are very much enthusiastic. That is the result of a mixed-group. But as an entrepreneur myself, that is also how the real world is. Sometimes, it's not only about grades and academics so be successful. After being admitted, there is no discount on the level of difficulty. To pass and learn, you have to study hard, give your best, attend all the classes, participate, pass the written exams, and submit course work on-time.

Other Applied Colleges

Hult International Business School | MBA

I chose to be in Vancouver, Canada for the weather and the place.

UBC Sauder Business School | MBA

Requiring physical on-campus classes during the peak of pandemic.

Beedie School of Business | MBA

Requiring to be in Canada the soonest time for the class. Not much flexibility for International Students.

UBC Sauder Business School | MBA

Offered on-campus classes only last 2020. I chose a program with hybrid programs to ensure studies to continue online or on-campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course only because of our HOD, but after completing my course, he left the course. He has helped us with all the things like web development and seo skills. By doing it practically for every student, he offers a domain for every student. I had difficulty with Google Ads & meta ads because it was taught by another faculty. The exam times were different by 3 months.

overall, my journey here was amazing and I am enjoying here. although I got placed but the faculty members are still available to foster me with good understanding. Along with this the facilities like canteen where the food is good and tasty and the international tours organised by the college authority helped me to gain insight into the internationally well structured plan.
