Remarks

Admission to Calcutta institute of engineering and management is basically done based on Wbjee and Jee mains marks. If your rank is within 26000 approximately then you are eligible for admissions. After the counselling process gets over and if you get allotment in this college then one will be eligible for admissions.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Various courses offered at Calcutta institute of engineering and management. Btech courses in fields like computer science, information technology, electrical, ece, instrumental and civil. MBA, BBA courses are offered as well. Faculties are very helpful and highly qualified. We can approach them in case of any kind of academic-related issues. Semesters are held twice a year. To be honest, the results of a student completely depend on their hard work, to achieve something great one needs to be extremely dedicated and focused.

Class Size: 52Course Fees: INR 93000 per year

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Internship opportunities are provided here. mainly are campus representatives at mywbut, coding ninja, Internshala, etc, They are also supportive regarding off-campus internships taken by students personally.

Placement Experience

Placement facilities are available here but yes! One has to work hard to achieve it. Tech Mahindra, TCS, cognizant, Infosys, etc. These companies are also the recruiters. The average package is 4 to 6 LPA

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of this institute is very reasonable. The quality of education it provides and the way by which the students are nurtured here says it all. The total couse fees of my stream, Btech CSE is 357000. There are also options for a fee reduction for economically backward students, one can also apply for TFW.

Campus Life

Calcutta Institute of engineering and management has a very well decorated campus with two blocks each of five floors, a big library which is too huge and contains almost all course books, big grounds, two canteens, spacious classrooms. Here we are having a well-developed innovative cell, photography club, cultural club, etc. This is a great option for students to make a progress in their interests by joining these clubs. We have our annual fest "CELCIUS"...and this event is awaited by every student of not only CIEM but engineers all over Kolkata. Torneo is also a special event here, which is an interdepartmental soccer competition. Seniors ans juniors get along well with each other. They guide us in every possible way.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

This college doesn't provide hostels inside this campus but hostels are present just outside the college campus. It's hard at a distance of 5 minutes. Accomodation-- two rooms, a dining area, washroom, and balcony.5 students are allowed. Students are completely safe and meals are also provided thrice a day. It's a very good option for students who come to study from a distant area.

Hostel Fee: INR 6500 per year

Interview Experience

4.5

No, I didn't have to face any interview session for admission. After the Wbjee counseling, I got an allotment in this college, and then further processes of admission took place. Admissions are basically done through these entrance examinations.

Likes

Supportive Faculty - The professors are highly qualified, approachable and always willing to help students
Free wifi support - There are free wifi support for both student and faculty
Fee Structure - It is very affordable and low compared to other colleges in the region

Dislikes

Placement support is below average, and most studnets have to apply for off campus jobs independently, which is really pathetic in the era of ai where getting a job as a fresher is so difficult
There is no dedicated support or placment cell initiative to help studnets land meaningful summer internships or any kind of internships

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester. For placement drives, we have to visit the main campus, Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL). Since students from other Techno India campuses and branches also participate, the competition is extremely high. In the 2025–2026 academic year, fewer companies visited. Only two companies, Dronahost and WishCare, visited our specific campus directly. The remaining drives—mostly service-based companies like TCS and EY, along with a few startups—were conducted at the main campus. The remaining drives mostly service based companies like TCS, EY etc and quite a few startups has visited to main campus. The package they offered mostly in between 3.5lpa - 6 lpa. Furthermore the selection process of those startups is quite rigorous often consisting of upto 5 rounds of interview, two technical rounds with two technical interviews, and HR round My plans after getting the degree is either pursue an MBA or preparing for govt jobs

Campus life: Hype vs Truth

Likes

The discipline is followed very strictly. Also you have access to library which is good, teachers are helpful and no ragging policy which is strictly followed and has a decent environment.
Thery conduct seminars which encourages students. Many faculty members are knowledgeable experienced in their respective subjects and helpful willing to solve doubts beyond the classroom also.
The college has decent infrastucture including classrooms, labs and library .

Dislikes

While the curriculum is decent ,it lacks sufficeint practical implementation.More hands on projects, real world application and industry exposure would improve learning significantly.
Campus life can sometimes fell limited in terms of active student interaction.Opportunites for clubs, networking and collaborative activities could be improved.
The college comes under St tHomas School so the campus is not great it is compact and has a canteen.

Placement Experience:

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

The main reason behind choosing the college over other colleges is it's electrical department's history. The electrical department has received many awards, certificates for the projects development. There was a time when the college had 120 students in the electrical department. Making it one of the highest in the state. These things pulled my attention and also pulled me in take an admission in the institute. Also the department has won multiple awards at both the state and national level. The admission process is overall simple, there are a number of faculties who are always willing to help students, their parents and advise them the best course for their child/children....Read More
