Twinkle Saini's Review On Lovely Professional University - [LPU], Jalandhar

I am an admirer of my college and I don't have anything to say against it. It has made me what I am today and has changed my life for the good in many ways. Its not just a university but my home! I'd just like to say that I love LPU.

I always wanted to be at a managerial position in corporates. I had to go through LPU NEST test to secure scholarship. Thereafter, an interview was conducted which gave eligible candidates the gateway to enter MBA Hons. Although I was eligible to get enrolled in MBA Hons, since I secured 26 marks out of 30, I still chose MBA General because the courses offered under MBA Hons. Were more or less the same as MBA general with high fees.

I've selected marketing as my specialization. The college puts in a lot if efforts to impart the best education to students. However, college tends to overburden students in the spirit of building the best students, which only makes students frustrated and they end up being rather less competitive.

A lot of companies like ICICI, Haritdhara, make my trip and start ups like nineties media, blackbuck etc come here to take interns. The stipend ranges from 3000-12000.

Over 70-80 companies come here for placements each year, for MBAs alone. LPU provides placement to almost all the students of MBA. The ones who don't get placed are continuously provided job opportunities by our placement head, even after they pass out. Companies like Practo, Colgate, Asian Paints, Think and Learn, Cognizant, Zycus, Decathlon, Redington, Aashiana, Sandbar Technologies etc. form the profile of the companies coming here.

LPU rapped and grooved with 'Sunshine Music Tours & Travels' star-cast lovely Professional University was visited by the star-cast of the #Bollywood_movie ‘Sunshine Music Tours &Travels’. The interaction of the star-cast with the students was magically musical and entertaining. Actor #Deepak_Kalra gave a rap performance which he invited the students to join in. The other actors too performed to songs from the movie and had the audience cheering and grooving.

You can get MBA done only in 2 lacs (excluding hostel expenses). Scholarship holders can pursue the entire course in even less than 1 lac rupees. This is a very rational cost to be paid to get a quality MBA experience. The fact that all kind of students from across India and abroad are present in LPU makes it clear that parents are able to afford to send their wards miles away from their homes to stay in hostels.

LPU is known for providing high scholarship based on previous marks. I myself have availed a scholarship of 45,000 which makes my fees just 54,000 per semester.

LPU is the most diverse university you will find. Not only from different religions but people of different nationalities come together here. A lot of celebrities like Shahrukh khan, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, MS Dhoni, Ranbir Kapoor etc. often visit the campus to promote their movies.

We have 6 girls and 5 boys hostels enough to accommodate huge Lpu crowd. Single seater to 4 seater ac and non ac (cooler) rooms are available. Price varies from 40,000-90,000 (excluding mess). You may or may not opt for mess which costs 15,000. Grounds, canteens, tuck shops and beauty parlors and ATMs are available within hostel premises. Apartments are also available but they cost more than hostels. I would rate it 7 on 10 because of only one drawback which is stringent entry and exit to and from hostels.

LPU Alumnus’ VFX Ventures Nominated for Student Oscars 2016 #Hansjeet_Singh_Duggal's ‘Gardeners of the Forest’ and ‘It’s Just a Gun’ are finalists, in the documentary and narrative categories respectively, for the Student Academy Awards (Student Oscars) this year. LPU duo Pushkar Kumar and Hasan Malik's start up have been recognized by the government under its start up India campaign. The duo has revolutionized event planning with their app and is now one of the 134 startups recognized by the government across India.

MBAs have to appear for exams only once a semester (6 months). Both detailed answers and multiple choice questions form the question papers. There is 25% negative marking in Multiple choice questions which makes guess work very risky. Other components like CAs, presentations and tests tend to make days hectic.

We have very well educated faculty..while most of them are PHDs, others have been civil servants. They have remarkable experience in the field of teaching as well as corporate. Many of them have international exposure. They put in their bestest efforts to teach us and clear our doubts. They don't hesitate to schedule extra doubt clearing sessions for us. Moreover, they constantly keep on motivating us like they would motivate their own children. There is something beyond professionalism and that is the emotional connect that we have with our teachers. They promote class participation and make sure that no student has missed a chance to share his/her opinion. They are even open to criticism and are always ready to change the way they teach according to students. They work hard to constantly upgrade the quality of their students for which they have to act strict at times. A student who is keen to learn will definitely acquire abundant, long term knowledge from the kind of faculty we have.
