Remarks

TIET is one of the prestigious educational institutions in the country. Spread over a sprawling 300+ acres in the royal city of Patiala; TIET boasts of a state-of-art infrastructure. Equipped with modern academics, sports, Library, and student facilities. TIET offers a world-class experience to its students. While filling in admission forms for colleges, I had attempted for a few select institutions as suggested by my peers. TIET came as a highly recommended college and I was fortunate enough to find my course of choice in it. The only lag I found was the uploading of the list of selected students took time. The admission process was another thing that formed up the choice of college. Well planned out dates according to JEE rankings, involvement of student volunteers, well laid out documentation checking process, all helped me revere my choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course due to my interest in automobile engineering. I wanted to explore further possibilities in AI and robotics and hence I took the stream "Mechatronics", which is basically MECHANICAL + ELECTRONICS. Thapar has a 3-way teaching method ( Lecture, Practical, Tutorial) the teacher-student ratio for lectures is generally around 1:100 meanwhile tutorials and practical's is around 1:20. (varying from branch to branch). All professors have Ph.D. with First Class in preceding degree. The Exam system consists of Mid Semesters and End Semesters. Pre-corona Mid semesters used to take place around March-April while End semesters took place in December followed by a Winter break. The exams were fairly tough, yet however, paying attention in class and hard work can be your key to acing the examinations. Before both Mid- Semester and End Semester a "Study Week" is provide in which all classes remain suspended and students can use this time to study and ask doubts to their professors.

Placement Experience

4

Thapar has a separate placement cell that can be reached at any time for placement inquiries. The cell is student-friendly and also provides time-to-time updates about placements and advice for a better placement. Thapar has a great record of 90%+ placements. Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
