Remarks
Aerospace was newly introduced with a promise of well established labs and up to date equipments(I.e- aircrafts, wind tunnel, jet engines). Fees was fairly low in comparison to IIT's. Truth:-currently the university is flooding with new admissions in the particular course and yes they have labs including a MIG29 jet engine and wind tunnel. But they make you pay unnecessarily for placement courses which are often for positions such as sales, marketing operations and IT profiles. No guidance is provided regarding the actual industry requirements. 2016 batch was a golden batch and somehow the university came up with a brilliant idea of experimenting with our syllabus and the students were introduced core subjects in 3rd year. Internship opportunities are worse and mostly students find internship opportunities on their own. The support is just for name sake. As aviation courses were not easily available so LPU was a good choice and the authorities ensured research opportunities and good placements. Admission procedure is quiet fast paced and usually the university will do most of the job efficiently.
Course Curriculum Overview
In comparison to other Universities LPU has a strict regulations regarding courses. Attendance being one of them. Professors are experienced and good at teaching. Engineering candidates may face a hectic schedule where classes continue from 9-6 with regular exams. Faculty was good during my time but the syllabus was quiet tough and hectic. But we we went through unnecessary subjects for 3 years and the practical knowledge was useless as the lab personnels just demonstrated and the calibration process was literally a headache. There's a Piper plane hanging just in the lab and sometimes the professor operates it but never teach us in detail. Students are sometimes mocked too for asking questions when in lab. The mentality is just to pass in practicals and assessments. Elective subjects are all for show and they literally don't have the resources to give to the children. Students even have to learn some softwares on their own which costs more. Placement is worst. Students suffer with the internship and placement opportunities. In the name of placement they charge you more fees and do nothing but make students give amcat test with no section regarding to your course. The worst thing is they are still brainwashing students who are passionate to study aerospace but couldn't due to their situations so they make the most profit. The university basically hides it's dark side via promoting more fancy things about the campus, the campus life etc. In reality it's a place for fun and actually best for business studies and BSc courses but for not engineering. The situation is pathetic and most of the students are suffering despite their efforts and are unemployed with no hope whatsoever.
Placement Experience
Placement is worst for engineering candidates especially from mechanical, civil. Very few core engineering companies come such as Mahindra, Bosch, sonali etc. The struggle is real. Maximum package went upto approx 12LPA for CSE student in Microsoft and some for upto more than 10LPA for business students. For engineering max went around 7-8LPAThe most frequent company visits is cognizant and they are famous for bulk hiring across every department of the campus.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees gets revised every year only to add more burden to your pockets. Campus jobs are joke and very rarely you will get a job which goes along with your tedious schedule. Financial assistance is provided on campus examination base and securing more than 9 cgpa base. I didn't even secured an internship where they would pay me instead I ended up paying for my internship two times and got nothing.
Campus Life
Social life is exuberant and colorful. Renowned artists and celebrities come to the campus. Dj nights are arranged and campus festivals are held once in a year alongside small fests. Groups and clubs are there to join and variety of competitions do occur. I was a member of hexagon club for majorly aviation lovers and Digantara(mini satellite project club). The club varies from robotics to singing, dancing, English, poetry etc. Go kart championship is held and also various ISME events or mechanical events are also held. Every department holds various activities. Once a year sports fest is also arranged where all the departments participate and awards are provided respectively. Although if a candidate is genuinely interested or was a regional or national sports player, he/she is provided with various benefits. But the sports department has a dark side too they hesitate to take new students and in the end of the day it's all about medals and those who secure medals are rewarded heavily.
