Remarks

I had applied for Chandigarh University, LPU, BITs. I didn't attend them because I find Thapar has good placements than them. I had not availed for any quota but there were quotas who were from Punjab and minorities. Admission process was based on jee main exam. Students who had scored above the 93 percentile made it and the minimum age doesn't matter. There was counseling in which you had to sit in the hall and a big screen was there which showed how many seats were left. They called students to choose from remaining according to percentile. Punjab students had different counseling from other students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course because at the counseling time when I went to choose the best I found was this one. In the lecture it faculty-student ratio is 1:150 and in the lab and practical it is 1:25. The faculties are very well qualified. Most of them are Ph.D. graduates. The teaching is a classroom in which there is a projector and slides have been going through. There were two-term exams each after three months. It was very easy to pass them if you had just attend class and pay attention.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are many companies that provide data analyst and software development. Amazon for software development and JP Morgan for financial analyst. Amazon-30000. JP morgan-35000. Jp Morgan deals with financial problems and Amazon deals with customer problems.

Placement Experience

3.5

In seventh semester students become eligible for campus placements while you can do internships in previous semesters. Microsoft-7 Amazon-12 TCS-420 Wipro-300 Zomato-8 The highest package is by Microsoft which is 42 LPA and the average package is around six to seven Lacs. The students get placed according to the skills and branch they are in. For computers, almost ninety percent get placed. After getting a degree I will be in some MNC or will start my own venture.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee hike is almost one to two percent over the year. The cost of the course was almost fifteen Lacs including the hostel. There were many scholarships for bright students who did well in jee or board or semester exams. They provide financial support to them. There were scholarships like merit scholarships for bright students and merit cum means for those who were not financially stable. The banks also provide loans for your fee. The placements were very good. Big companies like Tcs, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. come for placements. They provide a very good package. The highest CTC is 42 Lacs.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest is Saturnalia and it was conducted in November and there were many tech fests which get organized every month except in exams. The library is huge and full of informative books and very well organized. You will find every coursebook and other books and journals you need. The classroom is very well structured fully ac and stepwise structure means another students sit one step above the previous student so that the teacher can focus on everyone. Almost every sport is available including cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, and many more. Sports competitions were also held branch-wise and hostel-wise. Saturnalia for fests, debsoc for debates, entrepreneur, Microsoft, and many more.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Wifi for every single student. Study table, a single bed, almirah for every student. If you want ac room that is also there. The meal is very top class in mess. There were many Indian dishes on the menu. If you want nonveg egg is also provided every day. Chhole bathure, pav Bhaji, and milk vary from day to day. Overall mess is a very good and very reasonable price. The registration process for a hostel is they provide you a form and you have to fill according to your budget and facilities. Like for one person in a room is costly than four-person in the room. Similarly, AC rooms are more costly than non AC.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
