Remarks

JEE results came and i couldn't qualify advanced but with around 130-140 marks in mains i was confident that i can skip the comedk councelling( As it was just for a backup!) so i only sat for JOSAA,JAC DELHI AND BITSAT councellings. All these councellings were being held online(due to Covid -19)and almost simultaneously . I was offered a seat in BITS hyderabad but its fee was too high for me(6-7 lac per year) so i decided to drop BITS ! Now i was left with only NITs and JAC DELHI colleges(DTU, NSUT and IIIT DELHI). I was given delhi quota(as i completed my 12th from delhi) but coming from general category, for me it was good for nothing. It was clear in my mind from the begining that either i will join the top 7-8 NITs or I will take DTU/NSUT(as these are much better that other NITs). I was offered seat in NSUT/DTU but i was waiting for those top NITs. Eventually on failing to secure a good branch in top NITs i chose DTU over lower NITs and i am happy with it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

My first choice was always CS branch( almost sabki he hoti h) but on the basis of my score i couldnt get CS in DTU (its cutoff is too high). Therefore i decided to take mechanical as its the only branch after cs that i found to be interesting. The student faculty ratio is quite good (75:1) Almost all the faculties are phd holders. The exams are held timely and its not very hard to pass. But 3-4 hrs of daily study one can easily score 8+ gpa

Internships Opportunities

4

College starts calling companies from second-year itself for internships. Almost every giant company visits college for providing internships to students. With proper preparation, students get internships every year with stipends of even 1 lac per month. If performed well, these stipends get converted into PPO(Pre placement offers) and the students get their jobs in hand even before completing their graduation.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placements from 4th year. But interships are provided by DTU from second year itself. Almost all the famous companies visit DTU . Google, facebook, mircosoft, amazon, goldman sachs etc vist every year and hire many students. Highest package even reaches 1 crore . The average package including all branches stays around 11-12 lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

Every year the fee increases by 10 percent. Coming under the delhi govt. the college provides ample amount of opportunities to students for scholarships. Further, DTU also gives financial assistance on its own to poor students.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is very good. We get a lot of free time to engage in extracurricular activities . College has several amazing canteens where students can be seen chilling out throughout the day. Several fests are also held throughout the year along with the most famous annual fest - "The Engifest".

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels are spacious and very affordable with 4 nice and clean commom washrooms on each floor . Newer buildings have even ACs. The mess food is average but better than most of the other hostels.Chips, juices, butter, dahi etc are availabe in mess 24*7. There is also a fruit stall and juice shop of DTU just near the hostels . The registerations are held online but we have to visit the hostel office for document submission and some other formalities.

Other Applied Colleges

BITS | Btech

I was not getting my desired branch .Also the college fee was too high for me so finally i opted out

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Jamia Millia Islamia are not too high or too low and depend on the branch. Students can apply for placements starting from their 7th semester. Big companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and some startups come to recruit. The average salary offered is between 7 to 8 lakhs per year, but there are not many students who get higher packages. About 40 to 60 percent of students get placed. Many students also work on getting into higher studies or look for jobs outside the campus after they finish their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.
