Full analysis of Delhi Technological University (Formerly DCE)

I am an undergraduate student pursuing B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University (Formerly DCE). It is among the top colleges of New Delhi. I was not having any quota, I am a general category student. For getting Mechanical engineering(ME) in DTU, you have to first clear JEE -MAINS and then apply by JAC counseling. In 2020 the cutoff rank for the general was 44981 in the spot round for ME. In 2020, due to COVID-19, our counseling was in an online mode. Results of each round and money deposition were through online portals.

I chose Mechanical Engineering because I was having an interest in the subject. Moreover, in DTU, you would get high-class mechanical workshops and labs where you would be having almost all the machines and types of equipment, which would help you to develop a very good practical hand. We are currently in an online mode of classes, so faculty: student in every batch is 1:80 approximately. Professors are highly qualified. In online classes, almost all the professors are taking the classes regularly and teaching with their full dedication which is just the opposite of offline classes. In online mode, each semester has 3 class tests and 2 surprise tests, where two best scores of CTs and the best of 2 of STs are marked for evaluation. Moreover, we have to submit a project also of 25 marks and 10 marks are in the hand of professors which they give on basis of attendance and response of student in the class. Tests are from easy to medium level. If you attend your classes properly then you would score well.

Only 4th-year students are eligible for college placements. Almost all the big giants of the tech industry visit DTU like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Paytm, Uber, Facebook, Amazon, etc and offer good placements to a number of students. In 2020 average CTC was 12.27 LPA. The highest package was 1.07 crores by Amazon. 150+ students got a package of 20+ LPA and 450+ students got a package between 10-20 LPA. 1545 offers were given to companies in 2020.

Fees are increasing exponentially. For 2020-2024 batch general category students, fees are Rs.8,44,000 and there is no concession, scholarship, or relaxation in fees for general category students in spite of the fact that everything is in online mode. There are scholarships only for reservation students.

Engifest is the annual fest of DTU, which is a very grand fest. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 fest was not conducted in 2020 and we have not explored that fest. The library is very big and fully air-conditioned. It is having books on almost all the fields you want. In online classes mode also you can visit the library by showing your ID and can read the book. Library timings are from 10 am-7 pm. Sports ground are very well maintained. There is cricket ground with net practice, football ground, Kabaddi court, volleyball ground, basketball court, lawn tennis court, outdoor and indoor badminton court, well-equipped GYM. The indoor hall has table tennis and badminton courts. The best thing is that you would be provided all the sports equipment to play for free. There are many social groups, confession pages of students on Instagram. So, there is a very healthy and enjoyable environment among the students. The college life of DTU is very awesome.
