Remarks
The major reason I chose LPU is because of my course i.e, Aerospace Engineering.LPU is a college which have variety of courses, diversity, infrastructure, and professionalism. These three plays the main role to attract students. One bad aspect is Money, for everything you've to pay money, lots of money. The admission process is quite time taken actually. If you're doing it online then its fine but If you do it offline then you will spend your whole day lining up and going from one counter to another. As I mentioned earlier that LPU has diversity, Infrastructure and Professionalism. The one thing which is actually good of LPU is that they develop our personality professionally. They take special focus on our communication skills which is something no other universities do, and that is why LPU students are able to get placed with very good packages. I used shiksha, and career360 while selecting this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Aerospace Engineering because this was my dream course and I've always wanted to be an Aerospace Engineer. My batch was the first aerospace batch with one section that consists around 65 students. There are not much experienced faculties in Aerospace Department, many of them were doing their PhD's from the University itself. The student to faculty ratio would be around 60:1The teaching was mostly theoretically rather than practically. In terms of exams and its timely schedule LPU always has the whole schedule ready an year before. The exams were ok with both theory and MCQ questions.
Internships Opportunities
I got the internship for six months in Tata Advanced Systems ltd, Hyderabad. Where I worked in on a General Electronics Project, my work was to increase the manufacturing efficiency of Aircraft Engine Casing. I worked as a Time and Motion Study intern in an Industrial Engineering department. There was no stipend for this internship, I chose this internship because this is the only internship LPU has provided me which is of my course.
Placement Experience
LPU and its placement is something which I can talk about hours, and that too not a single good thing about it.From third year itself students become eligible for placements. If you're a CS or MBA graduate then this might be the best University for you but if you're aerospace, mechanical, civil or any other, then choosing this university might be the worst decision of your life. The Highest package in 2020 was of 42 lpa, of a CS graduate in Microsoft. While the highest package for my course was 3 lakhs per year and that too in a management company. The average package is somewhere between 2.5-3.5 lakhs per annum. LPU focuses on quantity rather than quality. No one in my class got placed and yet the placement coordinators has marked almost every student placed because of our internships with no stipend. The companies which usually comes in here is Cognizant, Wipro, etc.For a mechanical engineer, they call Management companies, actually they don't call, they only allowed us to sit in that placement drive for their own name sake. The percentage of students placed in my course was 0%.I didn't got a job and due to covid I'm still searching for one.If you are not taking an IT or MBA course, then don't take admission in LPU. Just don't.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is quite high, but they have this lpu nest exams in which they gives scholarships to lure more students. For instance, if the actual fee per semester is 1 lakhs then by giving Lpu nest, you might get a scholarship of 40k and that means every semester you only have to pay 60k instead of 1 lakhs. Now, 60k is also a big amount for the course but this is their Marketing strategy for admissioning more students. The fees hike is so much, in 2016 when I took admission the fees was 84,500/sem, the next year it was 89,500 and then the next year they increased 10k more, and so on.I didn't get any internship with stipend, I got a job which I didn't took because it wasn't from my core stream.
Campus Life
The campus life is exceptionally good. A number of fests held every year at LPU like Youth Vibe in October, One India in September, One World in February, Explorica in April, and so on. Sometimes more than one event occurs in the campus There is never a dull life inside the campus. A number of clubs and student runs are there and a whole block is made for the extracurricular activities which you can take and learn anytime be it a taekwondo or a event manager, you can learn everything here.DYC, Creative Beast, Hexagon Aerospace, EUROAVIA are some of the student runsThe Library is huge witha vast variety of books, there is a central library and a block library in each block as well.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is ok with an option of 4, 3, 2 or single shared room available. You have to opt for Ac/cooler room. While taking Admission only, you can pay or choose whether you will be availing hostel or not. The hostel fees is again very high, and it does not contain meals. You have an option whether you like to take meal in the mess or in the canteen. The hostel meal have options of South Indian, North Indian or continental food. The price of the hostel meal is around 45k per year, while the accommodation fees is around 60k per year of a 4 shared room with cooler.I took the hostel which is in Lpu campus itself. There are more than 13 hostels for both boys and girls. There are a number of restrictions in girls hostel while next to nothing in boys hostel. The entry timing for girls is at 6 or before, while there is no entry timing for boys.
Admission
I gave a written test named as LPU NEST, the LPU NEST is an exam where students get scholarships on the basis of their marks. The test is taken in online mode with 3-4 sections to attempt. As I was giving the test for B.tech, the sections in my test were Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. No, there is no such thing like GD or PI There is a PI for MBA course but that too is not taken seriously. LPU focuses on quantity of students rather than quality of student.
