Remarks

I submitted a common form of Delhi University for UG admissions. I made a list of colleges where I could procure admission on the basis of my best of four subjects percentage for the course I was interested in, which was BA(Hons) English. The admission process was simple, where one needs to generate an admission form online from the DU admission portal from their account. The list of colleges and courses for which one is eligible to apply as per declared cutoff appears on the portal. An applicant can only generate one form at a time for one course. Their is no minimum age limit, the only compulsion is to have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board. My course required English subject to be compulsory for admission. One is required to take a print of the admission form, and original as well as photocopies of mentioned documents on the official site. These documents are verified, and the portal is updated for payment, afterwords admission is done.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I wanted to study literature as I was keenly interested in it. I had a reading habit since school time, which led me to discover literature more through this course. The faculty: student ratio is pretty good. The faculty of my department is well qualified and diverse in nature. All of them are experts in their respective fields of interest. Different teachers have different teaching methodologies which is highly subjective. All of them are passionately involved in generating interests in the minds of students too. Term exams were compulsory, which were easy to pass.

Internships Opportunities

0.5

The internship opportunities are very low-paying and often unpaid. Often students feel not getting any decent amount of stipend offers from the internships which are conventional and limited in nature.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students often get various internships and jobs via campus placement cells, but these opportunities are not very big or high paying. Various companies visit campus during placement drives, but the no of students bagging big opportunities is very less.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure of colleges affiliated with DU is quite affordable. However, the students also have the option to apply for financial assistance in their respective colleges. The on-campus placements are not profitable for all the students from different courses.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual fest of Kalindi College is LEHREN. It is usually conducted in the month of February. The library of the college, for a literature student, is quite disappointing, as it is limited to only some classic literary figures. The classrooms are average. Sports and extracurricular activities are always visible, and college provides many facilities to the students who are interested in them.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
