Department conducts entrance examination which is in three stages. Its related to life of Mahatma Gandhi, his contribution in freedom struggle. It also comprises of contemporary issues and Essays on that. Level of exam is good and needs preparation before that otherwise possibility reduces to get admission because substantial number of candidates apply for the admission.

Course is very much Research oriented. Most of the students opt for PH.D after this course. It is a very new field on which scope of research is very wide and chances of acceptance is bright. Curriculum is made basically to address all the contemporary needs of the world and includes wide range of subjects from indian freedom struggle to nuclear proliferation treaty, Satyagraha to International court of justice and their ways to dispense justice . So its very interesting in nature.

As such there are no campus placements associated with this course but job opportunities are very bright in the field of research and social sciences. A lot can be done in the field of teaching and global research in peace establishment. Gandhian fellowship can also be opted by the students where they experience the real deprived world living in backward villages.

There are plenty of events celebrated in the department. Besides cultural and youth festival there are many events like Gandhian week, global classes , foreign student exchange programmes are organised by the department.

Fees is very reasonable and highly subsidised by the Government. Merely Rs 7000-8000 is the annual fees of this department. Annual fees is divided into two semesters . First and third semesters have fees approximately Rs 2600 and second fourth semesters have fees Rs 4200 approximately. Each semester has examination fees also which is approximately Rs 2000.

No, there is no such facilities available within the University. Loans can be taken on professional courses from the outside banks.

Campus life is really amicable and gender friendly. Even it is friendly for transgenders and LGBTs . Students are broad minded. Cultural and religion diversity is the beauty of this University and secularism is followed religiously. Students have a wide range of economic status too but no distinction is made with any student who is not at par with other students economically.

Alumni network of Panjab University is very strong and successful students of the University are called upon by their respective departments to guide and help the students.

Examination is conducted as per semester system. There are 4 semesters in this course . Apart from semester exams, monthly exams are also conducted by the department followed by assignments and presentations which holds it reservation in final result.

Department conducts three tier entrance examination consisting MCQs , Subjective questions followed by interview with 50 percent weightage to Graduation marks. Objective question paper includes the factual knowledge about the life of Mahatma Gandhi , example what was his technique of struggle against Britishers .

Faculty of Gandhi and peace studies Department is highly qualified . All of them have done PH.D and their way of teaching is very lucid and expressive in nature. Research scholars are also given their said quote of lectures and their contribution in also acknowledged through these lectures. Department has zero tolerance in related to quality of education.
