VNIT Nagpur, Mining Engineering

Remarks

There is nothing bad in the college except the in time of the hostellites and the goods are endless (Campus, Greenery, Aarohi and many more).

Entrance Preview

I got 147 score in JEE (Mains) & 84.50 in HSC Exam (Maharshtra Board) and the brand of NIT itself forced me to go for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As far as mining is concerned, there is no scope in doing MTech utill and unless one wants to go for PhD. So, the basic formula while pursuing engineering in Mining is maintain your CGPA and get a nice job either in core or non-core typed companies.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, Most of the companies visit our campus for the internships too, And the average stipend is about 15-20k for the period of one month.

Placement Experience

5

Last year, 59.3% students got placed which seems to be the nice number. Except that, this year, as on 15th Jan, 52% placements have been done and it might reach to 65-70% this year which is a quite good number. So if you're just good, no one can stop you from getting a job from VNIT.

College Events

4.5

Aarohi, Thats everything. Aarohi is nothing but the (Central India's Largest) Cultural Festival of VNIT, Nagpur. It is not just the cultural festival but it is the feeling. It is the art of living life. One must take a sip of it. Axis is technical festival of VNIT, Nagpur.

Fee Structure And Facilities

College fees is not that high (around 80k per year) as compared to other private colleges. It was too low previously at our times, (in 2013). Mess and Hostel fees were also increased from 2014. So overall, VNIT is not that expensive as in fees kind of things.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a scheme for education loans under which students don't need to pay any interests for the period they are studying, (One imp requirement for this 0% interest scheme is the income of parents should not exceed 4lpa) Most of my friends have availed it.

Campus Life

4.5

VNIT have a huge campus of 220 acres which is the one of the best things of this college. Sports is compulsory for first year which is quite good. Robotics, debates etc kind of things happen in the Cultural and Technical Fests of VNIT, Nagpur (Aarohi, Axis, etc).

Hostel Facilities

3.5

LAN connections are provided in each rooms in hostels which forces me to rate it 5/5. Individual rooms are provided to everyone from 2nd year onwards. And as the mess is concerned, its not that good as it is MESS. Thus, I'll rate mess food 3.5/5.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumnis & Seniors are always haapy to help. There is not any ragging kind of thing in VNIT(It is overhyped only). Seniors just take intros in order to increase interactions.

Exam Structure

"There are two sessional examinations and one End Sem Examination each sem. Sessionals are of 15 marks each & teachers assessment (internal) are of 10 marks. End Sem Exams are of 60 marks which in total contributes 100 marks, And the evaluation is done by the Grade Point Average. system.

Faculty

4

Talking about the faculty members, we have suffered a lot because of absence of good permanent profs, but now, the department is full of talented profs, which happened this year only. Thus, upcoming batches need not to worry about faculty kind of things.

Focusing on student's attendence rather than focusing on students concepts. College is not focusing in development of students only paperwork is done. No conceptul teaching nor practical. By doing this stuff we can get a btech degree but not the knowledge a btech student should have.
