Remarks

The admission process was very complicated. Thousands of students across India had come during my counseling time. There was very tough competition for computer science and computer-related branches. Approximately jee mains cutoff remains the cutoff for the weakest computer-related branch. There are many computer branches like ENC, COE, EEC, CSBS, COSE. Thapar university also has a second campus located in Derabassi. The cutoff for admission in btech in derabassi campus is low as compared to the Patiala campus. Frosh is a society that will help students during the admission process. Frankly speaking, they are very helpful. Thapar University has a 50% reservation for the Punjab quota. Thapar also has reservation policies for SC/ST,j&k residents. Thapar gives admission to foreign students as well. The fees for thapar btech is 20-22 lakh f(it includes hostel/mess fees) . Improvement- thapar website to work properly.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Truly speaking in Thapar you have to study by yourself. Teachers hardly teach in classes and are very rarely found in their cabins so to ask for doubts it is very hard to find a teacher. Most of the teachers don't pick up their phones. Lectures are well qualified but TA (those who take labs) laterally don't know anything about their subject except very few. Thapar University has over 1.5k students counting all computer branches. During examination their tight marking because teachers say they have to maintain average because here marking scheme is relative. Thapar takes 1.8lakh per semester for only tution fees but doesn't teach even worth 10k whole semester. The Dean of academics here doesn't listen to students' grief. He behaves like he's a businessman only doing his/her job to earn money. There's very little help you get from Deans. Help you get only from friends and seniors. At the end quality education is less quantity education is preferred more.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many top companies such as ION, de shaw, jp Morgan, optum, Salesforce, GEP, Texas instruments, Adobe, Providence have visited this year(2021) for internships for 2022, 2023 pass Outs. They all are offering an above 50k stipend every month. A good cgpa and good coding skills and good projects can very easily land you in an Internship. Many top companies have 3 rounds of interview This year, And one general test. All were conducted online by all companies due to covid.

Placement Experience

4

Placements here at Thapar university are very good. Many companies visits here. Every student here at thapar gets placements. I am internship coordinator and I have observed students here are good during time of placements. Many students very easily crack top companies and get internship opportunities. Highest package evey year goes upto 42-45 lakh and average package vaires according to branch. I am aware of cse avg package it's 13-15 lakh. Thapar university has its good image in placements and internships opportunities. Many mass recruiters visits here such as dellotie, hcl, Infosys etc and they offer very good packages. From 5th semester students become eligible for on campus placements. Just strong up your coding and have good cgpa then you will easily get placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees here at Thapar university is too much high. Cost of doing btech(4 year course) is 20-22 lakh. Hostel fees and mess fees is very much high but no one says nothing because these things are common and what else you except from a private university like amity, thapar. Scholarship are given on basis of cgpa here at Thapar but it gets to only a few students. On the name of financial assistance thapar has 2 banks in its campus sbi and icici they provide you with study loan. Here at thapar job opportunities are good because top companies visits here I don't know why but they do. Thapar University is gradually increasing its fees and intake of students. It is introducing new branches with over 1.8k seats available in computer's branches. I frankly recommend new pass-out students from 12th to join thapar only if your family can afford it Else try to join government college with less fees. It's better if you choose any branch in NITs/IIITs over thapar computer science.

Campus Life

3

Thapar University has excellent class playgrounds and sports facilities as it takes very high fees from students. Laterally every book you will find in thapar library. Thapar Library is very spacious with over 5 floors in it. It all you would be excepting as all students are paying very large amount of fees. In Thapar university you can find many clubs and societies . Thapar university classroom are very neat and clean with fully air conditioned only for computer's students as only computer's building had this facility rest branches classroom are non AC. In thapar university you will easily find out people drinking and smoking there are some special places in campus where these things take place and guards ignore them. For enjoying , students climbs walls and can very easily get out of campus do whatever they want and can come again from that place . There are websites like myherupa which is run by students, you can find all study materials in this website .

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
