Remarks

The management of the college is very student friendly. But that doesnt mean the students can do anything, there heavy monetary penalties if found doing any mischievous things. The Deputy Registrar of Hostels is very strict in this regard.

Entrance Preview

KIITEE is the name of the entrance exam you have to sit for, to take admissions in this college. My rank in KIITEE was 6536. I opted for this college as it one of the best college in eastern India. It has been accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC. KIIT even outshines some of the NITs in terms of placements. It has been ranked in the 32nd position all over India including the premier institutes by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, MHRD, Govt of India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is pretty good. There are a total of 8 semesters in B.Tech.The credits weightage vary subject wise, the important subjects are of 4 credits each, all the lab and practicals are of 2 credits. The end-semester exam is of 60 marks, Mid-semester exam of 25 marks and the remaining 15 marks is on attendance, quizzes and other activities in class. Each semester we have 5-6 subjects and 3-4 labs. The labs are fitted with all the latest equipments and engineering accessories used it sites. Different industry related electives are also there for the students which is available to them after the 6th semester. The college also organises workshops and seminars on recent developments in the fields of science and technology. The college focuses a lot on research too, a budget is separately allocated for Research and Development.

Internships Opportunities

The college brings a lot of companies for internships in the starting of 4th year. The generally pay you Rs 15,000-20,000 per month. The pay scale depends on the type of company coming for the drive. There are many non paying internships too. I have done my internship at Dillip Constructions, the Training and Placement Dean, Civil Engg. helped us to get an internship there. Overall it was a wonderful experience, we got the industry exposure which is required in a fresher.

The college organised many kinds of extracurricular activities. KIIT International Model United Nations is the biggest MUN that the college organised in Asia. There are various debate, robotics, singing competitions and Quizzes organised throughout the year.

The hostel facilities are excellent, separate hostels are there for all branches which houses students from 2nd to 4th year. The first year students are kept in a separate hostel for one year with extra care. Both AC and Non AC hostels are there for students. Triple and Double sharing rooms are there in the hostel. The hostels are adequate enough to house all the students of the university. The mess food is pretty decent, food is served 4 times a day including morning and evening snacks. The food items comprises of both South and North Indian delicacies.

Alumni/Alumna

KIIT has a vast alumni network, they are always ready to help the students. I would like to recall one of the incidents which happened with one of my senior friend named Atul, he was a very bright student but wasnt able to get a job till the end of the 4th year, so he contacted one of the alumni working in an MNC who helped him get a job via Employee Referral.

Exam Structure

In a year a total of 4 exams are conducted along with the labs and sessionals. The pressure during mid-semester exams are less as less no. of chapters are in the syllabus. The end-semester exams are conducted just after the practical exams get over, so your day automatically becomes hectic. It teaches us to handle pressure efficiently.

Faculty

4.5

All the professors are from IITs and they have in-depth knowledge about the subject they are teaching. Some of them are also doing their research work in the college itself. The professors are very student friendly, they are always available to you for any kind of doubts or counselling. The college has allotted professors as 'Tutor Mentor' each for a group of 20-30 students, they help the students with any kind of problems in or outside the campus.
