Remarks

If you want to study in Mathematics honours in Taki Government College you have to get very good marks(minimum 80-85%) in mathematics in your higher secondary final exam. Here the admission system is based on the merit list. College does not take any admission tests. So it becomes very important that you score good marks in the 12th exam. Particularly very good marks needed in the subject you are taking as the honours subject. In my case that was Mathematics. The other two optional subjects are Physics and Chemistry. So you need decent marks too in your class 12th physics & chemistry subject. Moreover, the merit lists will be created based on marks of the best four subjects of class 12. You will find the application form on our official college website. After you appear on the merit list you have to pay 1690 rs and then you have to verify documents physically. Yes, reservation seats are available for minority and PWD students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I want to be a high school teacher of Mathematics. That's why I have chosen this subject as honours. Although in our Mathematics department around 110 people can be admitted but a lot of students go into a different career. In our batch, only 52 students were left who actually studied for 3 years. And we had 5 professors. So we have one professor per 10 students approx. All of our professors are highly qualified. They teach us with a lot of willingness. We had two seminars on different topics of mathematics. We had six semesters in total so we had to give 6 final exams. Other than the semester we had an internal class test.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of study in a Government college normally stays low. Our college was also the same. We had to spend 6000rs as a cost of study in our college. The first-year college fee was around 1700 and the second and 3rd-year college fee was around 1400 rs, So college fee was affordable for poor students too. And there are many scholarships available like the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship popularly known as Viakash Vaban Scholarship, Kanyashree scholarship OASIS scholarship. If you score 60% you can get a Vikashvaban scholarship. This is not an engineering college so it does not have any campusing.

Campus Life

4

Campus life was decent. Some festivals like teacher's day were organised and one annual sports event was organised. Apart from that, we did not see many cultural programs here. A hostel facility was available. Our department classroom was very large. Our library is one of the best places in our college. There have thousands of books available. We could take books and bring to home for studies. There is a small union in our college. But they are really helpful & solve any official problems.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
