Remarks

I got admission there through counseling in an online mode based on the marks of the Diploma. Generally, TIET conducts an entrance exam for admission for LEET named as TU-LEET. But due to pandemics, Admission of LEET students is done by online counseling based on the marks of the Diploma.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose CSE because I have an interest in coding and stuff. There is a class of 240 students and divided into subgroups of 30 students. So, the lecture is done in 240:1 ratio, and the labs and tutorials in 30:1 ratio. The qualification of faculty is Ph.D. Most of them are good at whatever they teach. They have a good grip on that subject. The teaching method of core subjects teacher was very good and for others it was okay. Talking about exams, it is not tough to pass every exam that happens in Btech. But if you want to keep your grades good you'll have to go through the subject in detail.

Internships Opportunities

3

Adobe, JP Morgan, GEP, SalesForce, DE Shaw, Trident are some of the companies visited in my batch for internship. The stipend varies from 50k - 1.5lakh. Samsung PRISM comes for an offer for a project. Internship opportunities are not very good here. Most companies kept the cut-off 9+ CG and many companies preferred girls. JP Morgan gave 40 internship opportunities. Companies might give them the PPOs.

Placement Experience

5

The Placements is the reason why people take admission here. Students are eligible in the 7th semester and most of the students of CSE are placed in the 7th semester only. Amazon, OYO, Paytm, Proptinger, BlackRock, GEP, MakeMyTrip, Delloite are some of the companies visited this year. 100% of the students of the CSE branch get placed every year. My plan after my Degree is to job which I will get in the next semester on-campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

TIET is one of the expensive colleges in India. The hike is 10% for every year. It is 2 Lakhs this year, next year it's going to be 2.2 lakhs and so on. If someone got admission in 2021, this course is gonna take him around 19 lakhs( for 4 years) and 14+ lakhs for 3 years(lateral entry). Scholarships are for the top 10% of people in the first year and then the percentage gets less. You'll have to be in the top 5-10% to get the scholarship for next year. There are no job opportunities in campus.

Campus Life

4.5

There are several fests happening on the campus every year. The most famous fest is FROSH which is done for freshers and one is Saturnalia. Due to coronavirus, fests are not happening. The library is very good and the quality of books are good, you can issue them for a month. If I talk about sports and extracurricular activities, it is impressive. Most of the students are involved in some sports or in any other activity.

Hostel Facilities

5

The rooms are very good. It won't be wrong if I say the rooms are the best hostel rooms in Punjab. Almirah, Bed, Study Table, Chair, Dustbin or someplace to keep the books or containers or anything is always there in the room. The quality and Taste of the mess are very good. Sodexo is there in mess on a contract basis. All veg but eggs(breakfast).

Other Applied Colleges

Lovely Professional Univeristy | Btech CSE

Placements of Thapar is far better and also the quality of students is great.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
