Remarks

I took admission through the lateral entry test and leet based on diploma merit. The details of the leet form can be found on the institute website nowadays because of covid 19 admission will be based only on diploma marks for lateral entry students previously before covid leet requires an entrance test to be passed. there is less competition on leet-based admissions as compared to admissions through boards and jee mains.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I choose cse in Thapar because I have done diploma in CSE and this college has an excellent ranking in this college; every 200 students, one faculty is assigned for a subject, and for lab, every 30 students have 1 Ph.D. student as lab teacher. Teachers are exemplary here. The term exams are difficult here and have relative marking in the exam.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

You can get an internship from the starting of the 5th semester. The ON-campus summer intern is good but not as good as it should be but the final placements and internship at Thapar is best. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, LinkedIn visit the every year campus, and almost every student gets placed.

Placement Experience

3

Campus placements start from the 7th semester. Although you can get an internship from starting of the 5th semester. Companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, JP Morgon, and many MNCs visit the campus. The average package at Thapar is around 6 to 8 lakh the highest of this year is around 30 lakh on amazon. The average placement percentage of Thapar is 95-98% which is pretty good.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is the major issue of Thapar. Since it is a premium institute the average per year institution fee is around 4 lakh. The fee increase per year. If I talk about myself I paid 1.8L per semester in the first year the 2.08 lakh per semester in the second year now I will pay 2.18 lakh per semester in my last year. The hostel fee is also expensive and it varies from hostel to hostel. But you can say that the fee is worth it since Thapar has a very awesome infrastructure and the best place for Thapar is the Nava Nalanda library. So if u can afford this much fee you should go with Thapar. Although Thapar also provides scholarships to 10% of their top students.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is awesome at Thapar mainly the hostel life. Thapar has a good sports ground it includes 1 cricket ground 1 football ground 1 badminton court and tennis courts. There is a place named COS you can get anything you want from there every basic need shop is there. The campus infrastructure is amazing there is an OAT at Thapar you can chill there with your friends in your free time. Canteens at Thapar are pretty awesome. Some famous places are G-block, COS, OAT, CSE block and of course girls hostel, just kidding. There is a huge library with a capacity of around 1000 students at a time. Classrooms are awesome also there are some amazing societies where you can join and get a part of amazing events.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels are awesome for real. There are multiple hostels but the famous ones are M, O, J, K, and N(it's a girl's hostel). The very common best thing about this hostel is their gyms. But every hostel has some unique quality like K is famous for Mess M is famous for its infrastructure J is famous for its location and view although J is a Non-AC hostel and the best one is O hostel it is all in one hostel. The registration of a hostel is simple you are provided with a link to fill up your choice and according to your preferences, you can get your hostel.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
