Remarks

Taki College does not take any admission tests. So everything is merit-based. You need to have good marks on the subject you are applying for honours. In my case, I got an 88 in Geography so I have applied for geography honours. You need to get average good marks in other subjects as the merit list is calculated based on the best four subject marks. Minimum 60-70% marks required in the higher secondary exam to get a seat in Geography honours here. However, a few seats are reserved for minority candidates. The application process is simple and completely online. After applying they will publish multiple merit lists. If your name comes on the list you have to pay the admission fee which is around Rs 1800.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Honestly speaking I have got the best marks in Geography subject in the HS so I have taken honours in this subject. We have many faculties in our department like 8-10 faculties. And we have around 60 students in our batch. So the student-faculty ratio is very good indeed. We have around 1 faculty for 6-7 students. Our faculties are all qualified. Some of them have done PhD. They have taken regular classes and we have learned many practical things in this subject because they used to take practical classes. We have the main exam every year. So in 3 years, we have a total of 3 exams. We had to give practical exams too. Exams were not very difficult to pass

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college is very low and affordable for everyone. And in our government college fee does not increase very often. Our admission fee was around Rs1800 and for the next two years, the admission fee was around Rs1800-2000. So the total cost of the study is between RS 5000-6000. But in our geography department, an educational tour was organized. The educational place varies every year. And it costs around Rs 5000-10000 depending on the place. You can get SVMCM scholarships if you get 60% marks and if you are a girl and get 45% marks you can get Kanyashree scholarships. If you belong to a minority you can get OASIS scholarships. No job is offered after graduation

Campus Life

2

Honestly, in our college there were not many cultural programs were organized. Some individual department hosts cultural programs. Otherwise, our college lacks extra curriculum activities. This is really upsetting for students. There are no big cultural programs where many students can participate with enthusiasm. Our library room is very good. There is a lot of books are available and there is an air-conditioned peaceful study room for study. It's the best place in our college. Our room is neither big nor small. We have a small auditorium. We did not have many sports activities in our college because we did not have any big campus. A hostel facility is available for students. And we have a student union group

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
