Remarks

The admission process at Thapar is good. This year the admissions were based on 10+2 and jee main percentile. The CSE cutt off from 10+2 was 98 percentage (PCM). Generally in the past years, the jee main cut off for CSE is 98.5 percentile for general candidate. The application is available on the website at the time of admissions. The form fee is around Rs 1600. Generally the forms come after the jee main results.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I preferred the CSE course because of my interest in AI and ML. The faculty of Thapar is amazing. Their teaching method is amazing. Feel free to ask doubts from them. They even give personal time for your doubts. The college provides highly qualified faculty. Most of the faculties have PhD in their fields. Also, students work hard for exams. In every semester there are sessionals (Mid and End seems). Generally in the first year, there are two Mid sems and an End sem. The paper is quite good as per the difficulty, but if you are clear conceptually you can easily score 90 percent marks in every exam.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are a lot of companies in the third year for internships. I don't have a complete idea about the stipend as I am in my first year. But some of my seniors got interned in companies like apple, google, Microsoft, Amazon, Deshaw, Flipkart and many more.

Placement Experience

3.5

The average package for CSE this year was 14 LPA. See the college provides the opportunities for placements, but to grab a 30 + LPA offer you have to work hard. Remember knowledge provided by the college is not as important for the placements as your efforts. There are a lot of companies providing internships to students in the third year. For example, in 2019 the highest package was given by Microsoft of 43 Lakhs. The placement percentage was more than 80 percentage for BE.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee at Thapar is quite high which I would say is the only disadvantage of the college. Btech costs you around 22 Lakhs for four years. But the college also provides scholarships to students on the basis of their merit. The top students get a fair good amount of scholarships from the college. Also, the college provides scholarships for the economically weaker sections . College believes that deserving candidates must have the scholarship to study.

Campus Life

4.5

Thapar has the best social and campus life I would say. The college has 250 Acres of lush green campus. The infrastructure of the college is top notch. The library is super amazing. It provides lakhs of books to study. It has group discussions rooms and even amazing journals to read. The classrooms are very well built. Thapar also has a yearly fest known as SATURNALIA. The college also provides the best sports facilities. Also, the college has 50+ societies. Remember the societies plays a very important role in the upliftment of the student.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostels at Thapar are super amazing. They have very good food. If I have to rate the meals provided I would rate it 9/10. The newly built hostels are super cool in infrastructure. I can easily say that Thapar never compromises with the facilities for their students. Each hostel provides laundry service to the students which are amazing. Most of the hostels provide matrices from their own.Every hostel provides you almirah, table, chair, box bed.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
