Course Curriculum Overview

5

Since I come from an Electronics background specializing in computer science having completed by Bachelor of Science Honours in Electronics, I always had the interest to be a scientist specializing in the field of Theoretical Electronics. M.Sc in Electronics from Jamia Millia Islamia is an application-oriented course that requires heavy mathematical, experimental, and logical skills. Therefore in order to move up the industry ladder, I decided to pursue my post-graduation from Jamia Millia Islamia. It also provides the best faculty to guide you throughout the course of your study. Faculty is all well qualified, with all having Ph.D. degrees, some have post-doctoral degrees and almost everyone has published a research paper abroad in universities and in other international conferences. The teaching method involves giving online resources materials, using the latest technologies to help students understand various subjects with ease. Exams are fairly easy to pass and get good marks in.

Internships Opportunities

5

Students can apply for internships in the first semester itself, as companies usually come in early during winter internships and take in students. The Companies that come for internships are Micromax, Vodafone, Qualcomm, TCS, and Infosys. The projects that the students are asked to perform are writing code for any product or system, developing software, writing technical reports, and assisting managers in developing new products. If students perform well in Internships, they receive a Pre-Placement Offer from the company and they can directly join the company as soon as they finish M.Sc. The highest stipend provided was 70,000 and the lowest was 30,000.

Placement Experience

5

Students become eligible for placements during the final semester of M.Sc Electronics. Companies that visit Jamia are Airtel, TCS, Hitachi, Wipro, AT&T, and Samsung. All students were 100% placed in these big companies. Some who do internships in other companies were offered Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). The highest package offered was around 5 lakhs and the average offered was around 1 lakh. I did get placed in Reliance Jio, however, I wished to study further, therefore I did a few months of work in the company and then dropped to pursue MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees charged per year are Rs. 32,000 that is a total of 64,000 for the whole 2-year M.Sc course. The fees include academic fees, laboratory fees, games fees, sports fees, and maintenance fees. Fees can be hiked depending on government and university regulations. Scholarships are provided to students who come from Backward classes to minorities, and especially to those who come from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Financial assistance will be provided to lower-income groups, provided one supplies the required documents for verification. Placements and internships are equally provided on the campus.

The campus is very big and has a lot of greenery. The library in the campus is spacious and provides access to various genres of books, journals, newspapers and magazines. It contains repository of hundreds of academic related subjects books. There is also an option for getting issued online books. Classrooms are very big and modern. Some classrooms do have the traditional black board style however most know have smart boards connected to the internet and are interactive. I have enjoyed my Masters at this college. It was a good experience studying here. The faculty was humble skilled and polite that I have faced no major issue in any subject. The library was having enough books related to subjects and also outside the syllabus. Overall experience was quite good in Dr B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research.

ISI life is definitely a colourful one. You will have your study pressure, but besides that it will offer you to live independently. You can participate in various sports and cultural activity. And I can surely tell you, no other institute offer such low investment in education with big returns, be it grabbing a handsome package in a big corporate or reputed university in USA or Europe.
