Remarks

You can find the application form on the TIET website. If you register before the deadline, you can avail of online counseling, and if you failed to register before the deadline, you to try your luck in offline counseling with leftover seats, which lowers your chances to get admission to your favorite branch. 50% of seats are reserved for Punjab residents. offline admission process you get much-needed help from fresh society so try to make one of them as friends as they are seniors only of 2nd and 3rd year.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I am a student of Computer science Engineering. the course curriculum of TIET is good indeed, and teaching is also good. I did choose this course because I am interested in working on software. The student strength in my batch is nearly 30 students in labs and 200 students in lectures. 2 types of exams are held in a semester midterm and end-term examination weightage of the mid term is 25% & end term weightage is 45% rest 30% is of sessional, sessional includes quizzes , viva, assignments marks.

Placement Experience

3.5

Thapar University, now known as Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), is placed in Patiala, Punjab. The placement chance has been constantly above 90 for the last six times. It lately conducted its 2022 placement drive. Till now, 120 Companies have formerly partaken. Till November 15, 2021, 889 scholars were formerly placed. The companies made 944 placement offers. 55 scholars formerly entered multiple Job offers. During the 2021 placement drive, 350 Companies shared. 1100 scholars were placed & 1165 placement offers were made.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently pursuing my degree in Computer Science, and the fees of the TIET are way too much. Thapar hikes 10% every year, and the hostel and mess cost is also very costly. it cost me around 20 lakhs for BE computer science with four years period. the scholarship is provided to students on the basis of merit of jee mains & boards percentage in the first year . second-year onwards scholarship is provided on the basis of merit cgpa.

Campus Life

3.5

College life is itself a very adventurous and pleasing journey. So it is pretty obvious to have a fun and friendly environment inside the campus. There are various activities related to art, culture, or gyms. for literally every activity there is a society like for dance, singing, stocks, movies, coding, etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

hostel rooms are small and for cleaning its very difficult to call the cleaning staff for cleaning of rooms and washrooms. meal provided in hostels is bad as hell. Most people order online for dinner and only do breakfast because breakfast Is good and provided tasty as compared to lunch and dinner. I have stayed in PG also. you could very easily find a PG. many PGs are near the poly technical college of Thapar. they all are very clean and decent and affordable.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
