Remarks

The course eligibility is based on the higher secondary exam's marks as the college does not take any admission test. Minimum eligibility for chemistry honours is 45% marks and must have come from a science background with a chemistry subject. The more percentage you got in 12 the higher chance of getting a chance in chemistry honours. You can find the application form on the college website as the entire process is online. The application form costs around 200 and if you come on the merit list you have to pay the admission fee which was between 1500-2000. Yes, reservation seats are available for minority students like SC/ST/OBC. If you belong to a minority you have a better chance of admission with lower marks.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have chosen this course because I have got good marks in chemistry in my 12th board exams and I love & enjoy chemistry more than another subject. We have 5 professors and a total of 34 students in our department. Our student-faculty ratio is very good indeed. It's approximately 7 students per one faculty. Our hod ma'am is a little bit rude but she teaches us very well. Other professors are good as well. All of our faculties have done P.hD and they used to take regular classes. We have learned a very good practical lesson in a chemistry lab. Their teaching method is very much interactive. We have given one exam every year. So in 3 years bachelor course, we have to give 3 main exams along with practice exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of our college are very low as it is a complete government college. We had to give an exam fee which is rs 1200-1500 every year. So the total costs in 3 years are less than Rs 5000. But if you take private tuition outside college the fee will be much more. We have government and private scholarships opportunities. The best government scholarship is the Swami Vivekananda scholarship. You will get Rs18000 per year but you have to get 60% marks every year. Both girls & boys can join this and there is a Kanyashree scholarship for girls only. You have to get a minimum of 45% marks to avail of this offer. Minority candidates also get a small number of scholarships named OASIS. Some private scholarships are available. But getting private scholarships is very hard.

Campus Life

0.5

In our Taki College, I have not seen any big cultural programs in 3 years. The only festival I have seen celebrated by the college is Saraswati Puja. And student union also organized teacher's day. But we did not have any fresher's ceremony, convocation ceremony any cultural programs where all department students can join. This is very disheartening. I must say please if you have the option, take admission to other colleges. We have a very good library but our librarian's behaviour is rude. And you can take the book home after getting a library card. However, our library consists of a large variety of books. From departmental books to novels, comics, journals, short stories etc. We did not have any kind of campus in our college and we did not have space in front of our college. So no sports activity happens here. We have a student union group but they are polite and helpful in needs.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Sc Computer Science Faculty: Student ratio is = 4:23 may vary a bit Faculty are well Qualified & Teaching method is okay good, but not to the mark like very good or excellent. The exam term was timely (sometimes it gets a bit late due to some natural disaster like cyclone, heavy rainfall, etc or any govt. & university delays), and the exam level is nearly too difficult, something like in between moderate to difficult.
