Remarks

Eligibility of taking admission in a lateral entry in Thapar for btech in computer science is 70% overall in your diploma. You can find them at their own site.I didn't have any reservation. They just need to provide the information regarding admission more correctly as by calling the students

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Because I had an interest in computer science and web development. I would say 35 students for one teacher. All of the professors at Thapar have completed their Ph.D. in the computer science department. I would say they are in every 2.5 months and the level totally depends on the teacher but most of the time they are pretty hard.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Software engineer role is offered in the companies at internship and most of the companies offer more than 50000 for the stipend. Project is given in colleges for different subjects and capstone project is given which can b done in 2 semesters 6 and 7.

Placement Experience

3

They get eligible for 6 semesters. I am still not eligible as the basic cgpa required by the companies is 6.5 average package is 12 lakhs more than 9 cgpa is required. To pursue a job and then pursue mba in abroad

Fees and Financial Aid

Thapar is really expensive I would say the prices are really high for a student to study in thapar as their education fees is more than 200000 for cse and hostel fees isn't that much for six months. There are alot of scholarships a student can have by getting a really good score in the year

Campus Life

3.5

There is a lot of fests which are conducted at Thapar University and they are filled with the crowd but due to covid situation haven't been able to attend any of those. If I wanna say something about the library I would say its heaven for the people who love books the environment in the library is so peaceful that it would make you want to study and you can get every type of the book in the library. Classrooms are 5star rated and labs are really good they have provided the best pcs you can get and a really good environment. There are many sports you can play in college and there is a different ground for each and every sport.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are beds, matrice, study table, air conditioner, chair and lights provided in the room Meal quality is pretty good for any hostel as the meal is provided by So so it is pretty good. It is easy for the registration process and they are affordable in comparison to other colleges hotels.

Interview Experience

4

No, I didn't there was just one Group Discussion. we want to pursue between Computer Engineering and Computer Science Engineering and it was done by our HOD sir and they asked for our marksheet details.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
