Remarks
No, the admission process is perfect. the improvement I want to see is that the college is increasing students' intake year by year. just if the seats are reduced somehow the cut-off will increase and the college will give better placement offers to the students of all branches. 50 % reservation is there for Punjab residence, sc/st reservation is also applicable to our college but most of SCs /STs don't join thapar because Thapar university is very expensive to afford.
Course Curriculum Overview
Exams were held on short notice, but that was due to COVID. Some exams were easy, and some were tough, but if you are a hardworking student, then you can manage to score well and get a fair cgpa all over., The average teacher/students ratio is 1:140. All most lecturers are Ph.D. qualified, but some are not. I have chosen computer science because of my interest and job opportunities in CSE and AI.
Internships Opportunities
I don't know much about internships. You can refer to their official site where you can get data about internships and aspects. But u are in one of the best colleges in terms of placements and internships. as from seniors, I listened that the average stipend is 40-50k for internships. those students who start coding early have a greater edge over others to get an easy internship. data structures and projects you need to work on and easily you can get an internship.
Placement Experience
The placements are good. The average student of cse can get a placement of 10 lacs if he/she is being consistent with the work. Tech and non-tech both companies come in good amounts. Although students are too many not all get on-campus placements. approx. 60-70% of students get placed and the highest package varies from 42 lakh - 47 lakh per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got a scholarship based on a CGPA of first-year worth 1,34,000 rupees. People also get internships and other scholarships provided by the University itself. Some are on jee basis and some are on the merit of CGPA. Thapar University is very expensive. hard for middle families to afford. there is a fee of 2 lakh + 50k for six months. Average 15 lakh CTC goes as this is what I listened to from seniors.
Campus Life
There are many. But the best society is nox dance society which works all over the year and represents the college in different colleges like IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, bits Pilani and many more and even won there. Almost all books are available in the library. our classrooms are fully AC. All kinds of sports from football to swimming pools there on the Thapar university campus. All information about clubs and societies you can find out on the Thapar university website. Life at the campus is good for extroverts but hell for introverts.
Hostel Facilities
No, I never rented. I took a hostel. I got a hostel which is the best. It is just like a 5-star hotel with food not so good. Management needs to work more on food and long line for the similar. Fees were genuine but for cleaning, you have to physically find out cleaning staff which most of the time is not available or visible on campus, so it's better to clean your room yourself during exams days or on emergency days.
