Review about India Maritime University kolkota campus

Eligibility is 75% +in 12th and 60%+ in English. The application form is available on imu.edu.in, Application fees are around 1000. Reservation is for Sc, St, Obc, and general Ews. Up to 40 percentage of seats are reserved for all the economically backwards classes which I mentioned .

I chose this course because I wanted to join the Merchant Navy and this college is the Best way to Join the merchant Navy as an engineer. Faculty are good and friendly most of the faculty have done sailing for at least 5 years we call them officers sir to respect them. All faculty are highly qualified some have done Ph.D. and master's from IIT. Every 4-6 months we have semester exams and believe my semester exams are tough in comparison to other universities.

From the 4th semester onwards cadets are eligible for campus placement. Top companies are Chevron, NYK shipping, Anglo eastern Shipping Management, Fleet management private limited, Mediterranean Shipping company, Scorpio tankers, Torm tankers, shell, etc. Almost 60-70% from campus rest will either get off-campus or through reference. My plan is simple I will try to get placed in a good shipping company and will do sailing.

Fees are affordable as the fees include everything hostel, mess, and uniform so you can say fees are less as it is government college so fees are Less compared to private colleges. The scholarship will be provided according to your performance in semester exams if you get a good rank in the semester exam you will get a scholarship of up to 1 lakh per semester another scholarship award according to your state policy will be also provided to you if you are eligible. Education loan is also one way for financial assistance.

There is one tempest conducted every year which is Asia's biggest marine fest and another small program is also conducted at a regular time interval. This is one big library and all kinds of books are available there for the students. Classroom infrastructure is also good. If you play sports and are good at sports then you'll get so many benefits because tournaments for every sport are conducted every month and you will get a chance to represent your college at IIT Kharagpur in the respective sports you play. There's some social group for Band, Drama, NCC and Communication lab, etc

Facilities are good you will get all the basic facilities but don't think you'll get an air conditioner and room heater. You'll get a single bed, fan, table chairs for study, almirah, etc But the life at the hostel will be awesome. In girl's hostel, you'll get a washing machine. But there's a laundry service Which is free so you don't need to wash clothes but in the girl's hostel a washing machine is available for their well-being. The quality of food is good, food is healthy and you can eat it. But don't expect you will get the food like your home but the menu of food is good for both vegetarian and nonvegetarian. This is a residential course so you must need to stay in a hostel you can't live outside your campus in a rented room.
