Remarks

This college accepts admission on JEE Main and Boards Percentage and there is a 50 % reservation for Punjab residents. Scholarships are given on the basis of merit of jee mains and boards percentage in the first year and after first-year scholarships are given on the basis of merit of cgpa.

Course Curriculum Overview

I like coding and development so I chose cse. The girls to boys ratio is very 1:5. All faculty are highly qualified and did m.sc. to Ph.D. Exams are held every 2 to 3 months one is mid semester and another is end semester. Teachers hardly teach in class they only read slides.

Class Size: 140Course Fees: INR 2500000 per year

Internships Opportunities

There are very less companies coming for internships in the 3rd year and on-campus internship opportunities start from the 3rd year onwards. many companies have visited till now for internships like jp organ, ION, de shaw, McKinsey, Paytm, applicate ai, axis bank, cisco, etc. I have not been selected for an internship offered by companies.

Placement Experience

The placement ratio is very nice but there are very less companies giving internship oppurtunities. Internship oppurtunities start from the 3rd year and placements oppurtunities start from the 4th year. If a students gets selected in a company for job on campus then he/she is not allowed to sit for upcoming companies for on campus but can apply in off campus oppurtunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is given on the basis of merit of jee main and boards. In 2nd Scholarship is given on CGPA based. There is 10% fees hike policy in thapar every year. You can get study loans from banks like sbi and icici which are available to students within campus only.

Campus Life

The annual of this campus is Saturnalia and it is held in September every year. All kinds of books are available in the library from academics related to competitive examination preparation. classrooms are fully air-conditioned. We have many groups here like computer creative society and here we have mudra society also. We have Myherupa as a website for students run by students where you can find all kinds of related academic information and study material.

Hostel Facilities

There are many hostels for students, 8 hostels for boys and 2 hostels for girls. Mess is available in every hostel. Hostel rooms and hostel type is allocated according to merit of cgpa. You can find many pgs within 10 min walking distance. The hostel's charge is 60k for a semester. Facilities like gym, tv room, reading rooms, discussion rooms are available on hostel premises.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

Likes

The infrastructure is great with state of the art labs and equipment
The library is really nice place to study
Lots of hangout spots in and around campus

Dislikes

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Likes

The Scholarship benefit is good when compared to other universities the fee is also not very huge.The Infrastructure of the campus was vast and there arelots of stall to purchase food items etc
There is a big mall through which You can get necessary items .In every hostel you will have departmental stores
The faculty was highly qualified. The Placements opportunities are also good The average was offered was 5-6 LPA.The Lpu newly Launched Education Revolution is very good for students

Dislikes

The mandatory 75% attendance policy for every subject.If you not maintain you will debar from End term examinations which is not all good
The Roads are not that much good .The roads are made of parking tiles instead of Thar
The distance between hostels and main gates are nearly 1.5 -2 km which not at all good .but there e-rickshaw they charge 15 rupees per person to drop from hostel to main gate

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course cirriculum changes every year by rapid changes happening due to AI The University has also launched a new school called School of AI and emerging technologies.from this every year syllabus changesand exams pattern changes .the difficulty of exams is increasing day by day.

Inside NITJ- Beyond the Brochure

Likes

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Likes

The environment of the college is so nice, helpful staff, AC labs for CS deptt.
Canteen and water facilities and park in both deptts
Skilled professional educators and tutors

Dislikes

Distance of travelling coz for me its too much far
Nothing as of now everything was good enough

Placement Experience:

- Limited campus opportunities were available, and most students become eligible from the final year. - The average package was around 2-5 LPA. - after my degree my plan is to improve my employability my strengthening my technical skill in my domain

Big campus and beautiful garden and environment
Aqi was soo good because plants and tree was so much

Dislikes

Mess food was bad but it doesn't taste that bad
If we Complaint about anything college mostly ignore it

From 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements and tata or Infosys companies visited and about 60 to 70 percent students were placed and my plans after getting the degree is to opt for higher studies doing mtech from iit

I like the machines that's why I choose the mechanical branch in engineering line. Noida , Gurgoan , Chandigarh , Bengluru and many other areas for improvements in the course curriculum and teaching methods.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Likes

The sports and the various facilities that they provide for relaxing
The Library that remains open till 10-11 at night for those who wish to study till late
Great mentors and very helpful teachers who are always willing to help

Dislikes

The hectic schedule and curriculum that the students have to follow.
The lack of certain facilities that would help the students improve thoer personalities
Too much strictness and restrictions with everything that someone wishes to do

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum

Worth the Money

I applied to IGDTUW , VIT vellore and other colleges i got into both in VIT i got CS but it was too far away plus the placement percentage there is comparatively low and IGDTUW i didn't have mg prefered branch. i got selected to VIT vellore , but as i belong to punjab, and the level of VIT and TIET is the same, i preffered TIET i could even get a lower branch at NITJ (95%ile), but i did not want to compromise on my branch. admission process - you fill up an online form where you fill hostel preferances (like branch and college preferances in JoSAA) from thr options of hostels available for you (J, H, FRF and FRG for boys, I G E and PG for girls). you come here acc to time slot given to you acc to your percentile or boards percentage you are called into the main audi you get alloted a hostel there you fill up some forms, pay the mess fee, hostel fee and course fee in there go to hostel get your room keys and mess card issued then setup your room...Read More

Honest Review - Thapar University

I applied for VIT and SRM but didn't take admission due to poor quality of placements and peer group. I am from the General Outside Punjab quota. I had 95.33 in PCM and got admission on the 12th board's basis (due to coronavirus).
