Remarks

The admission process starts in the month of June and till august. the application fee is 2000. reservation is provided to SC/ST and there is a 50% reservation policy for Punjab students. all details of the admission process are provided on the website. In 2019 min percentile for getting any computer branch was 94. I want the admission process to be completed online and someone to clear doubts related to admission on the website because thapar authorities don't pick up the calls.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

the curriculum is very hectic and complex. at the exam time, you are so busy that most of the people here don't even take bath on exam days so to gain more time for studies. the faculty are well qualified with all Ph.D. holders. in the first year most of the teachers don't teach in class in a good and understandable way, so students use to learn and understand topics from websites. exams are held twice a semester and the semester is of 6 months. there is strict checking of answers during exam time so basically, exams are tough for scoring nice grades, and grades are given on a relative basis.

Internships Opportunities

4

on-campus internships start from the 5th semester onwards. top companies like Deloitte, DE-SHAW, jp morgan, ION, cerebral, MCKINSEY, etc visited campus for the summer internship. companies also visit Thapar to hire interns for a 6-month tenure in the 4th year. Nice in terms of placement. Projects are worth mentioning in my resume.

Placement Experience

4

placements are amazing in Thapar. dreams companies visit here. the on-campus internships start from the 3rd year onwards and placements start from the 4th year onwards.COE, CSE, CSBS, and ENC branches all students get placed in companies. the placement opportunities are bad for civil and electrical branches in Thapar.

Fees and Financial Aid

the fee is not affordable for middle-class families. the expenditure of doing BTech in Thapar is around 24 lakhs and every year fees are increased by 10%. the average fee of hostels including mess is approx 1.3lakhs per year. Scholarships are provided based on GPA score and jee main score .every branch 10% of top students based on jee and cgpa marks are given scholarships.

Campus Life

4

campus life is good but for me, the online mode was best. the campus is a vast area covering 250 acres. classrooms are new and all the equipment in classrooms like projectors, whiteboards, and desks are in good working condition and good conditions. there are all kinds of societies and clubs for each kind of interest/hobby.

Hostel Facilities

4

hostels are very good as compared to other institutes. there are 9 hostels for boys and 3 hostels for girls. hostels and room type is allocated to students based on CGPA score.PGs are also available within 2 min of walking distance.PGs rooms are cheaper than hostels. mess food is not so good but eatable. BED, STUDY TABLE, CHAIR, CUPBOARD, HANGERS balcony, etc are provided inside the hostel room. the cost is 4k per month of single-seater AC rooms in PGs.there is PGs for boys as well as for girls.

The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
