Remarks

I am a foreign student and I came through a quota(Compex scholarship) that is provided by the government of India to Nepalese students. Out of 1600 marks, the cutoff for the use branch was 1550 marks. The application forms can be easily found on the official website of the Embassy of India. There should be an improvement in the result announcement. It should be declared as early as possible.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I was interested in Computers when I was a child and I don't like much theoretical study so I decided to take this course. The ratio of faculty: to the students is 1:45 Teachers are well qualified but most of the teachers don't teach effectively and understandably. The way they teach doesn't look like they are well qualified or so-called Ph.D. holders. Well terms exams are conducted twice in the semester and It's not so difficult to pass and neither too easy

Internships Opportunities

3.5

JP Morgan, Nvidia, Mckinsey, Salesforce, Optum, Cisco, Axis, ION, Deshaw, Adobe, and OYO, these all have visited for summer internships for the technical job profiles. Talent Serve is the only non-tech company visited for the summer internship for the nontech job profile. the average stipend is approximately above 50k for all MNCs who visit for the summer internships program. Good Knowledge in DSA and proper projects based on particular specialized subjects help to clarify the tasks.

Placement Experience

4

Officially students can apply for placement from the second year onwards till the last year. A lot of big tech giants have visited this college every year some of them are FAANG and various startups almost more than 200 companies have visited. The highest package offered by a company is 45 LPA in 2019 and the average package is 8 LPA. Almost 95% of students get placed. I plan to Study master's after my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

This is the most expensive college in India and almost ten percent of the total fee is increased every year. Not only the academics but the hostel fees are also very high as compared to all other NITs and IIITs. The scholarship I got from this college side is a complex scholarship that is offered only to Nepali students. the quota of complex scholarships is very less in number as compared to other scholarships offered by the Indian government.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual fest conducted in this college is Saturnalia and it is conducted in August. Lots of journals and books related to different fields are available in the library. Anyway, the classrooms are well designed and there is the facility of AC and the technical tools are well managed for the lecturers. Every year a Sports event is held and sports like football, cricket, and badminton competitions are held every semester And there is two big ground for football and as well as for cricket and there is a separate ground for badminton and basketball Myherupa is the educational website where all notes and slides and study material is available and is operated by the students.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facility is good, there is an option for both ac and non-ac hostel and rooms, and a GYM facility is also provided. The breakfast, they provide is better but the night and day food is not too good. common rooms, gym, mess, playground, and study room are provided in almost every hostel. Hostel fee needs to pay for the allotment of the hostel non-ac hostel is a little cheaper than ac hostel but the amount for both the hostel seems to be very high.

The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
