GENUINE REVIEW OF THAPAR UNIVERSITY

I have got ENC(electronics and computer engineering) branch. the cutoff of the ENC branch was 83 per cent on the 12th board. Due to covid, all the admissions were held on the basis of board percentage only. the application fee is around 2k and the application forms are available on the website from mid-June onwards. the improvement I want to see is Thapar institute should declare the notice and results of admission at said time.

faculty are good qualified. most of them are PhD holders. teachers are well qualified but the teaching methods and way of teaching are very poor at Thapar University. most of the teachers don't pick up the phone and don't even reply to messages and e-mails. 2 types of examinations(MST & EST) are conducted in a semester and a semester is of 6 month period.

currently, I am in my first year, internships start from the 5th semester onwards. companies come for summer internships and for a 6-month internship process. good DSA and good projects are needed to get good internships in good MNCs. my seniors are placed in good companies for summer internships like Optum, cisco, salesforce, ion, de-shaw, adobe, axis & many more.

Nearly 90% of students get placed & 30% of students get summer internships. My plans are to apply for higher studies and complete my Mtech from Australia. the highest package was 42 lakh in the enc branch and the average package goes to 8-9 lakh.

fees are very high. approx 25-28 lakh is the amount a student will spend for the 4 years of engineering. Thapar is increasing its fees every year. most of the students move toward PGs due to the high amount of fees charged for hostels and mess fees. financial assistance is not provided in Thapar but other colleges like NITs and IIITs do provide their students with financial aid.

campus infrastructure is outstanding. wifi connection is somewhat weak. hostels are well maintained and neat & clean. .quality of mess food is poor. students use to order their food through Zomato or Swiggy. all sports from swimming to football, tennis, cricket, etc are available inside the campus. huge library with all kinds of study facilities like discussion room, projector room, the reading room is available for students.

The meal quality of food is poor. all kinds of facilities are available in hostels like gym, canteen, reading room, playground, open-air theatre, etc. hostels are allocated on the basis of CGPA. a menu is provided by mess authorities which get changed every month if needed. some of my friends stay in PG due to the high amount of fees of hostels and mess. PGs are available near the campus within 2 min of walking distance.
