Remarks

The admission process is easy. no doubt there are some flaws too. Our admissions were based on boards as well as jee mains percentile. Thapar's official site is Thapar.edu from where all admissions take place. The admission process takes a lot of time. There branches up-gradation test too. The overall admission process is easy.

Course Curriculum Overview

My Branch is ENC ie Electronics and Computer. This is a new branch and aanuup growingone. This course provides both knowledge and skill in electronics as well as computer fields. The faculty here are Ok. but still, in the end, you have to work out yourself. Quality teachers are there but only oneper branch. Teaching methods need improvement. Due to covid Mid term exams were held within one and a half months after arrival. This course is very expensive though, At least you need to have 30 lakhs in your pocket to complete 4 yeats least east in renowned branches.

Internships Opportunities

Cisco, and Accenture, also give stipend placements. Various roles are offered such as HR, Web developer, etc... Various projects are held by companies to provide leadership qualities. it helps to boost the confidence as well as help students to have a glimpse oglimpserate societies.

Placement Experience

Accenture, Wipro, etc. Around 40 % of students get placements. The highest package in CSE last year was 20 lakhs. Both stipend and stipend placements are held.

Fees and Financial Aid

My branch is ENC. It is a new branch. Its cut-off in 2021 was 88%. Scholarships are there. there are internships fares also from time to time held by societies. On basis of your CGPA, Scholarships are given. There are also companies arriving in the Third year for internships like Accenture, Wipro, etc. This college is very expensive though as compared to the courses it offered.

Campus Life

Campus life is good. There are various societies in Thapar. Various events happen every year. Sports facilities are not up to that level, Only one badminton court, one main basketball court, swimming pool is also there. The lecture classes are having AC but only that which are built recently There are many societies both tech as well as nontech. such as MLSC ( Microsoft learning society ), MUDRA EDC( Internship Development Cell ), etc. Tech fests are held every one and a half months.

Hostel Facilities

Good quality furniture is provided in some hostels. H and J hostels have very poor infrastructure, the rest of M and O hostels have great infrastructure for students. A meal here is provided by Thapar in very few hostels, rest most of the hhostel'smeals are carried by Sodexo... which is not very good as hostel meals are. The registration processeasilyeasy held online by google form. The menu has a variety of things. Night mess is also there which is open till 2 am during exams.

Hostel Fee: INR 160000 per year

Likes

The infrastructure is great with state of the art labs and equipment
The library is really nice place to study
Lots of hangout spots in and around campus

Dislikes

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Likes

The Scholarship benefit is good when compared to other universities the fee is also not very huge.The Infrastructure of the campus was vast and there arelots of stall to purchase food items etc
There is a big mall through which You can get necessary items .In every hostel you will have departmental stores
The faculty was highly qualified. The Placements opportunities are also good The average was offered was 5-6 LPA.The Lpu newly Launched Education Revolution is very good for students

Dislikes

The mandatory 75% attendance policy for every subject.If you not maintain you will debar from End term examinations which is not all good
The Roads are not that much good .The roads are made of parking tiles instead of Thar
The distance between hostels and main gates are nearly 1.5 -2 km which not at all good .but there e-rickshaw they charge 15 rupees per person to drop from hostel to main gate

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course cirriculum changes every year by rapid changes happening due to AI The University has also launched a new school called School of AI and emerging technologies.from this every year syllabus changesand exams pattern changes .the difficulty of exams is increasing day by day.

Likes

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

The environment of the college is so nice, helpful staff, AC labs for CS deptt.
Canteen and water facilities and park in both deptts

Dislikes

Distance of travelling coz for me its too much far
Nothing as of now everything was good enough

- Limited campus opportunities were available, and most students become eligible from the final year. - The average package was around 2-5 LPA. - after my degree my plan is to improve my employability my strengthening my technical skill in my domain

From 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements and tata or Infosys companies visited and about 60 to 70 percent students were placed and my plans after getting the degree is to opt for higher studies doing mtech from iit

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The sports and the various facilities that they provide for relaxing
The Library that remains open till 10-11 at night for those who wish to study till late
Great mentors and very helpful teachers who are always willing to help

The hectic schedule and curriculum that the students have to follow.
The lack of certain facilities that would help the students improve thoer personalities
Too much strictness and restrictions with everything that someone wishes to do

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum

I applied to IGDTUW , VIT vellore and other colleges i got into both in VIT i got CS but it was too far away plus the placement percentage there is comparatively low and IGDTUW i didn't have mg prefered branch. I applied for VIT and SRM but didn't take admission due to poor quality of placements and peer group. I am from the General Outside Punjab quota.
