Remarks
During our time admission was based on boards and there was a special round conducted for admissions through jee mains, one month after the opening of the college. The reservation criteria are 50% seats are reserved for inside Punjab students. The ones admitted through jee mains had to cope with their backlog of one month tho extra classes were scheduled for them.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite good, though the daily schedule is quite hectic as compared to the rest of the colleges. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1 faculty teaches about 300 students in lectures and 1 teacher teaches about 30 students in lab and tutorial sessions. Faculty members are PhD qualified. MST and EST were between a gap of a month.

The annual fest of Thapar is Saturnalia and it usually happens from September to October. The Library of Thapar is the best thing on campus. It is a huge library and all types of books are available there. The library is fully air-conditioned. There are AC as well as NON AC classrooms. Usually, all the classes for the first year are AC. All types of sports faculty are available on campus like lawn tennis, cricket, basketball, badminton, swimming pool etc. Sports are extracurricular activities are quite good. There are a lot of Clubs on the campus which helps in the overall development of students and also helps in interaction.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels of first year are not so good. First years usually are given NON AC hostels and they are very compact and conditions are also not so good. A lot of problems are faced by first year student in hostels. But from second year onwards hostels are quite good. AC Hostels are alloted from second year onwards and the rooms are also spacious. Mess food is not good, the mess food is too much oily. In first year hostels are alloted on the basis on PCM percentage in class 12th and from second year onwards the hostels are alloted on the basis of cgpa. In hostels there are facilities like gym, mess, night mess, lawn etc.
