Law - The Lifeline

The admission process at Kashmir University is a little bit hectic where you have to stand in long queues. There should be separate days for filling up forms for different streams. And also the admission process should be available online so that students can admit themselves from the available places.

I was always interested in helping people in the context of law and order. This is one of the courses where I can help needy people as best as I can. The faculty in this department is also quite brilliant and educated. They very easily manage the students as this course has a fixed intake of students. All the faculty is very well versed with the legal infrastructure and know their work. The exams were always on time and were always to the point, not too lengthy and not too short.

The students are offered roles in various courts, districts as well as the high courts. The students also get jobs in various legal companies. The students can also join various NGOs and other organisations. Different projects are done to help the underprivileged people and the needy ones too.

The students become eligible in the last semester as it creates a sense of employment in the students. The students are placed in various districts and high courts to make them experience the work of the field they are going into. After the course completion, the students are placed in various legal companies where the packages start from 3 lac to 10 lac per year. The students are placed in various companies on the basis of eligibility criteria. My plans after completing a course are to go for further studies.

The course fee was appropriate keeping in view the financial conditions of all the students. The course fee gradually increased as the course developed further and rightly so because in higher classes the faculty was very much experienced. Also, we had to visit the courts to see the work happening there. During our course, we were given internships in our selected courts so that we can financially get better on our own to some extent.

All the major festivities were celebrated on the campus. There were also annual functions where we were given time to celebrate the year, the one that's gone and the one that's coming. The library is well maintained with almost all the major books and journals available to the students. The books were available to every student. We also used to have regular sports tournaments as our body needs regular exercise too. We used to play intra-departmental tournaments and competitions. There was also a student union which used to put forth the issues, if any, faced by the students. They also used to put forth suggestions to the faculty and department for various things.

The hostel facilities were very appropriate. The rooms were clean and tidy and were placed at a very appropriate location which was easily accessible. The rooms were airy and well maintained. The meals provided were nutritious and tasty. There was the choice of choosing vegetarian or non-vegetarian food accordingly. The registration process for hostel accommodation is a little bit hectic as many students try to avail the hostel facility. There are also rooms available to be rented as PG and are placed quite close to the university campus.
