Remarks

There was an online counseling process. The admission form costs Rs. 1500. It is available on the admission portal of Thapar. The cut-off for COE(computer engineering) is 96 percent for Generals and 90 percent for Punjab Quota holders candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview

The placements for the course are really great. The faculty is really great and there are 200 students in each COE batch which is further divided into 3-4 sections, each of approx 25 students for the betterment of students. Teachers are highly qualified and have a great method of teaching. There are mid sems and end sems exams in each semester.

Class Size: 200Course Fees: INR 400000 per year

Internships Opportunities

The internships are approximately around 30000 INR. There are front-end, back-end engineering internships, computer security internships, Mobile Applications internships, product development internships etc.

Placement Experience

From the 7th semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. Most company recruiters are Amazon, Wipro, Intel, Dell, Apple, Microsoft, JP Morgan, etc. The highest package gone was 40 lakhs. Almost 90 % of the students get placed every year. My plan is to get an on-campus placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total cost for the 4-year undergraduate program including tuition fees, hostel fees, and mess fees is approximately 20 lakhs. The scholarships are for the candidates whose admissions are on the basis of JEE mains.

Campus Life

There are more than 40 societies in the college including tech societies, non-tech societies, entrepreneurship cells, etc. The Nava Nalanda library avails all the book facilities. There is the seating of 200 students in COE classes with a projector screen. The campus avails all sports facilities like sports areas(football ground, swimming pool, basketball court, etc). There are conductions of events almost every two months.

Hostel Facilities

The hostels are newly built and avail all the needed facilities like ACs, Almirahs and are spacious. The meal quality is mediocre. We need to fill out the form for hostel allotments and allotments are based on the percentage and CGs.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

Likes

The infrastructure is great with state of the art labs and equipment
The library is really nice place to study
Lots of hangout spots in and around campus

Dislikes

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Likes

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Likes

The environment of the college is so nice, helpful staff, AC labs for CS deptt.
Canteen and water facilities and park in both deptts
Skilled professional educators and tutors

Dislikes

Distance of travelling coz for me its too much far
Nothing as of now everything was good enough

Placement Experience:

- Limited campus opportunities were available, and most students become eligible from the final year. - The average package was around 2-5 LPA. - after my degree my plan is to improve my employability my strengthening my technical skill in my domain

Big campus and beautiful garden and environment
Aqi was soo good because plants and tree was so much

Dislikes

Mess food was bad but it doesn't taste that bad
If we Complaint about anything college mostly ignore it

From 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements and tata or Infosys companies visited and about 60 to 70 percent students were placed and my plans after getting the degree is to opt for higher studies doing mtech from iit

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

I like the machines that's why I choose the mechanical branch in engineering line. Noida , Gurgoan , Chandigarh , Bengluru and many other areas for improvements in the course curriculum and teaching methods.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The sports and the various facilities that they provide for relaxing
The Library that remains open till 10-11 at night for those who wish to study till late
Great mentors and very helpful teachers who are always willing to help

Dislikes

The hectic schedule and curriculum that the students have to follow.
The lack of certain facilities that would help the students improve thoer personalities
Too much strictness and restrictions with everything that someone wishes to do

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum

I applied for VIT and SRM but didn't take admission due to poor quality of placements and peer group. I am from the General Outside Punjab quota.
