Remarks
The application for KIITEEE-the entrance exam was free of cost. Owing to that, a large no. of students filled out the form. Due to covid, we had an online exam that was proctored from the beginning. We had to switch on our cameras for the whole 3 hours. Eligibility is min 50 % in PCM subjects in 12th board exams. The application form can be found at the kit.ac.in during the intake season. I did not need any reservation quota however there are seats reserved for the management quota. One improvement I would like to see in the admission process is to have a tougher exam paper because getting admission is relatively easy in this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose IT as my major as in the next 5-6 years it would automate almost all jobs. I wanted to be on the right career path. As far as the course curriculum goes, it is not so different from any other top-notch college. The faculty members are highly qualified. However, owing to the huge no of students in college if you want to do research work or ask any doubt, you need to do it yourself. Almost 3000 kids are in the CS building. Branches are CSE, IT, CSSE, and CSCE. Regarding exams the college is very strict, you need to study all year long if you want to maintain a cgpa of 9 and above. 155 credits to be completed in 4 years. 3rd year is the most crucial year in college if you want to land yourself at a top company.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities come around all year long. Recently internships were offered with a PPO by JP Morgan, dell, Mindtree, and hcl. Students have till the 5th semester to land themselves an internship. If they can't land one themselves, they are to intern under HighRadius. This company has a tie-up with our university and trains students for the industrial experience that they need.
Placement Experience
Regarding placements, the college is really helpful. There is a 100 % placement record that is being recorded for the last 3 years. There are 4 days when companies come to recruit students. Day 0- where all the big companies come. Day1, day 2, and day 3. Usually, CS students get 6-7 lakh per annum on average. The highest package was 50 lakh per annum. Most roles offered are sde, DevOps, analyst, and quality assurance roles. Other non-tech roles are marketing and advertising. I plan on getting a master's degree so I don't bother myself with placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is very high. It costs around 21 lakhs including hostel and mess for 4 years to complete B.Tech. Nobody likes the fee hike that has happened in the last 5-6 years but we are also being provided with top-notch infrastructure and teaching methods and all other amenities. Few people are offered scholarships. The top 1000 kiiteee are offered a scholarship of 10k per month. And the rank holders of every semester get a 10-20% waiver on their tuition fees depending on how much they scored.
Campus Life
Social life is really good here tons of opportunities to go out and meet new people. There are a lot of foreign nationals as well if you wanna befriend them-good for you. There is a central library open 24/7 that is built like an exorbitant mall. The best library I have seen in my life, hands down. Also, there are a lot of clubs, starting from photography to design to fashion and cooking. Join whatever suits you the best. The annual fest is KIITFEST which is organized in December, tons of famous musicians come here to perform. The only downside I would say is there are a lot of students so all places are always crowded. Approximately 30k students are there across all degrees and all schools.
