Is spending 25 Lacs in Thapar (TIET) Patiala worth it?

For getting admission at TIET Patiala you should have completed your 12th from a recognised school and board. Since TIET has no exam for admission in the 1st Semester, it admits students on the basis of JEE MAINS and CLASS 12th percentage generally. TIET has no fixed admission criteria therefore from 2 years they are taking admission also on the basis of class 12th PCM/PCB marks but admission on the basis of JEE MAINS is fixed. Generally, the dates of form release are around August month but an aspirant should visit the site regularly since they don't do much promotion so you should be in alert mode. They also give admission in the 2nd Semester if seats are left out and you are completing Polytechnic/BTech/BE course from any recognised institute, for that they take December Test. Dec. Test is also a branch upgradation test that students pursuing BE/BTech from TIET can also give.

My course is Electronics and Computer Engg. It has 60-70% part of Computers and 30% part of electronics. At TIET all technical companies like AMAZON, MICROSOFT etc allow students of the ENC branches to sit in placements. I took this course because it opens doors for both fields of Electronics and computers for me. We have three types of Classes at TIET, Lectures, Tutorials, and Labs. In Lectures, the ratio is 1:100 and in Tutorials and Labs that ratio is 2:25. In tutorial application of the lecture is taught. Teachers are very supportive any student can contact them on their phone nos. for any type of help. Major exams occur in 2-3 months but quizzes and assignments are regular.

Companies come to TIET and offer internships. An internship is provided to every student in 3rd year by the Institute but he/she can apply for an internship in any year and by clearing the requirements of the companies he/she can get it. Students with like Mechanical, Civil branches get 6-months internships in 4th year for Industry Experience.

Placements are very good at Thapar. Every premier company like Amazon, Microsoft, JP Morgan etc come here for ON-CAMPUS placements. A student can get placements opportunity from 2nd year. A computer branch has an average of 13-14 lacs and non-computer branches' average goes around 7-8 lacs. 95% of students get placed here. The highest package here was 40 lacs by Microsoft in the year 2021 ON-CAMPUS. Otherwise, students have also cracked Google with a 1.2 Cr package OFF-CAMPUS. I have no plans for Higher Studies.

Fees are the worst part of TIET. Till 2014 TIET was a Semi-Government Institute but after that when it got privatised the fess gets a hike every year at the same time, we should also not forget that the facilities they are proving are world-class but moreover, they should not increase fees every year. There are so many fests all over the year going on at TIET. Saturnalia is the annual fest and is conducted in the month of October. TIET has 20th ranked library in the world named Nav Nalanda Central Library. It has more than 1.25 lacs books in hard and more than 2.5 lacs in soft format. You can also apply for books which you want in the library. Classrooms are fully equipped with charging sockets at 2-3 seats each with AC fitted in the room. It also has a projector and smart writing tabs for teachers moreover the classes are wonderful. You get sports facilities on campus with coaches for every sport and you can get issued sports items by showing your ID-CARD. There are 50+ societies and chapters. They also have Microsoft and Google Thapar Chapter.

Hostels are good when compared to the other premier institute hostels. But after 1st year you get luxury hostels on the basis of CGPA they look like apartments. Facilities in hostels are Study Table Chair Fans AC WaterCooler Mess HouseKeeping Service Security etc. The hostel registration process is very easy. TIET will allot you a hostel according to your preference and availability and you have to just go to the hostel and scan QR and fill out the form.
