Remarks

It is very easy to take admission to Thapar. You just have to appear in JEE mains and if you are outside the Punjab domicile then try scoring 95+ percentile in JEE to get a decent branch in Thapar. Thapar gives admission on the basis of JEE percentile and you should have a minimum 75% in your 12th with PCM

Electronics & Computer is a good branch. As the name says you are given exposure to both branches Electronics & Computer. The teachers at Thapar are highly qualified. All the professors have done research work in their respective fields and they are always there for us. The student-teacher ratio is decent in Thapar.

Internships Opportunities

Many companies like JP Morgan, TATA, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, TCS, amazon and many others visit Thapar with internship and job offers. This year Microsoft recruited students with a stipend of Rs 125000 per month and a job offer with Rs 51 lakh CTC. They also help students if they want to go for projects. This year a group of students and faculty made a satellite for the PUNJAB government to monitor wheater for Earth's low orbit.

Placement Experience

The placements at Thapar are good. The average packages go around 9.75 lakh CTC and it increases every year. Around 200 companies visit Thapar. If you are not able to get placed during your graduation year then Thapar gives you one more chance to get placed. From the 6th semester, they start your placement training. And by the end of the 7th semester, 75% of students are placed. If you don't want to go for placements then Thapar also provides an option for startups. They give a grant to startups and also you are guided by their special team for the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

Thapar is a little bit costly but the money is worth it. Every year there is a fee hike in Thapar by 9-10%. But if you are a hardworking student then you can definitely get a scholarship. Tharp gives scholarships to approx 500 students. If you have a family income of less than 800000 then you can get a full fee waiver for a year if you have a good JEE percentile. And get a 9 CGPA to continue your scholarship.

Campus Life

There are many fests in Thapar. But the ones for which all waits are Mudranite, Saternelia and Thapar food festivals. Thapar has a world-class library 5 storey building with thousand of books open 24 hrs and all classes are fully air-conditioned smart classes. There are over 25 clubs and societies in Thapar.

Hostel Facilities

Thapar provides good hostel facilities to there students. There are AC rooms also with a decent rent. They provide a box bed,matric,study table with lamp and chair, almirah , curtains. The shared AC room cost just 70000 rs. and it inludes everything like mess fees,electricity bill, room cleaning and laundary. And if you want shared or single room with personal bathroom then it costs 85000-95000. Talking about mess food, the food is hygenic and have many varities. Each semester thapar organize two hostel nights for each hostel without any charges.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
