Remarks

TIET TAKES ADMISSION ON THE BASIS OF 12TH MARKS AND ALSO ON THE BASIS OF JEE MAINS RANK. For being eligible for the B.E./B. Tech you need to pass 12th with PCM with at least 75% marks. You can find the application form on the site of THAPAR UNIVERSITY. Its fee is about Rs.1200. After the end date of the application then counseling takes place. The university releases a cut-off for every round and then comes the spot counseling.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

As Electronics engineering has a very wide scope in the upcoming days in India, so there will be many new job opportunities. We can also go for IT Sector/consultancy companies. Faculties are highly supportive and of a very friendly nature. They will never get irritated with your queries. They teach very thoroughly. We are having approximately a 1:20 faculty: student ratio. Faculties are highly qualified from a prestigious institutes like IITs and NITs and from Thapar itself. Term exams are conducted two times a semester. We have end-sem and mid-sem. Apart from this, we have quizzes, lab evaluations, and viva.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many companies visit campus for internships in the pre-final year. Microsoft, Texas, Expedia, JPMC, Accenture, and many more have visited during my time on campus for the internship. Stipend depends on form company to company. Usually, it varies from 25000-100000.

Placement Experience

5

From the start of the 7th sem, students are eligible for the placements. Placements are the biggest plus point of our college. If you are having CGPA of more than 8.5 then you don't have to worry about the placement. every year placement percentage is increasing. currently having 93% placement percentage and 8 LPA as the average salary.

Fees and Financial Aid

It's a disappointing point as every year fees are increasing to some extent. The fee structure is such that every year fees are increased from Rs.10000-15000. Excluding the hostel fees, the approx cost of studying at Thapar is about 180000(for CSE). One of the best things about Thapar is It provides scholarships to many of its students. You can get a scholarship on Merit and also there are provisions of scholarship for students having family income less than Rs.10lacs.Namely, there are MERIT-1, MERIT-2, and MERIT-3 scholarships.

Campus Life

4

Our annual fest is Saturnalia which is usually conducted in the month of November. Then we have THAPAR FOOD FESTIVAL which is conducted in October. Apart from this, we have 44 societies and clubs which conduct their own events. So, every time there is something happening goes on campus. We are having one of India's largest libraries, The NAVA NALANDA LIBRARY. You can get every book here, doesn't matter if it's related to your course or not, you can get every single book you want in this library. Classrooms are equipped with projectors, speakers, and ACs. Newly-made classrooms have very good acoustics also. If you want to play any kind of sport, then you are in right place. We have the equipment, coaches, and courts for every popular game. You can play badminton, cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, etc.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There are many hostels availabe for the students on campus. Some are newely made and old ones have been renovated. Rooms are fully furnished, equipped with Box Beds, Study table, proper lightining and ACs. You will not have to face any kind of difficulties in rooms. We are provided with good qulity food. 3 meals we get in a day. Monthly menu is decided by the mess committee consisting of students. Demerit is that Hostels are slightly costly.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
