Remarks

Good part is the atmosphere in college is very good. People from upper middle or rich families come. No student politics is there unlike other govt universities. Bad part is it is a bit costly compared to other colleges.

Entrance Preview

I took Punjab CET and got 370 rank. I has the interest in Electrical because I always wanted to have govt job like in PSU. I chose this college because it was one of the best college at that time. Secondly i belonged to Patiala. So I was a day scholar. The admission process involved counseling. There all students from different states would also come for admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum was very good. The college had a deemed University so the papers were set by University only. We studied common subjects in first year, second year onwards we had core elective. The college had its own high voltage lab. The lab facilities libraries are very good one of the best.

Internships Opportunities

Companies like Abb,wipro,L& T,TCS etc came for internship for 6 month period. They offer around 10000 to 15000 per month.

Placement Experience

4

Placement is good. Almost all renowned companies across IT,Telecom,Power Sector,Civil come to placement every year. Even some PSU like IOCL come for placement. Packages vary from 3 Lakhs to 10 Lakhs per annum. Companies that do visit are converges wipro, infosys,l&t,tata.

College Events

4.5

Saturnalia is one such event celebrated every year which have cultural programs. Some renowned artists are also called to perform in the campus. I remember jagjit Singh, jassi and palace Sen events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure at my time was 17500 per semester. Even at that time it was very costly. Must be around 1 to 1.5 Lakhs now. The college has some NRI sponsored seats where you have to pay in dollars. It was around 7 to 8 Lakhs. Must be around 30-40 Lakhs now.

Fees and Financial Aid

The topper of each branch would have his tuition fee waived off every year. Further loans from Punjab national bank bank of Baroda and other govt banks is very easily available. I availed scholarship in my second year.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life was chilled out. Gender ratio was around 60:40. Mostly people from North India studied here. No political affinity to any particular group. Since Punjab is have good culture so good culture and people from affluent families normally come here.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facility and food was ok type. Not that great. Because most of the students were either day scholars or from chandigarh. They used to run away on weekends. But ragging was strictly banned even at that time also. The atmosphere was peaceful. There i

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is spread in every m metro city. We had Delhi chapter. Recently alumni from Delhi chapter met at chhatarpur recently. Seniors do help current students in their placement.

Exam Structure

Exams occur thrice in a semester. There are 8 semesters in total. One semester has two mid terms and one final term. The schedule is hectic. You are always buddy in preparing for exam. The whole semester schedule was very tight. Even lab activities were f

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
