Remarks

Overall I like my college because it has helped me in all possible ways in my overall development. Campus life is excellent along with the studies. I have spent 1 year and few months at Thapar university in which I have experienced all types of emotions, whether it's feeling of happiness, sorrow, loneliness, thrilling or fear.

Entrance Preview

I had given JEE main 2016 which made me take admission in this college. From my childhood, i have interest in machines that's why i chose mechanical branch in Thapar. There was no interview process followed except in-person counselling.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Mechanical branch is 2nd best branch of Thapar after Computer Science as considered by students. Our college has almost all the machinery required for my course. Labs here are well maintained and curriculum has a great emphasis over the practical knowledge. Also, various research programs are initiated by Ph.D. students under the supervision of faculty.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, college provide internship in summer. There are various intern programs run by college with a average stipend of 50000 pm.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement is the cadre due to which Thapar is famous for. Yes, placements are good here with a rate of 90%. Major companies that visit thapar are Microsoft, Sandisk, Arcesium, Delloite, Ford, Futurefirst, Amazon, Flipkart, etc. Average package is around 6 lakhs.

College Events

4.5

Various fests are organised in thapar by the students with the help of budget provided by the college. Like Saturnalia is a techno-cultural and the biggest fest of thapar organised annually in november with a footfall of 5-6k students. Other fests are also organised like Mudra, Izhaar, Urjaa, Food fest, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Tuition fees in thapar is not at all affordable to middle and lower class families. Total Fees- Tuition fees-87000 Development fees-45000 Other fees-10000 Hostel fees-(25000-45000)

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, college provide scholarship to the students in need or students who have done well in academic.

Campus Life

4.5

In terms of extracurricular, Thapar is much ahead of other government colleges because of funds. Our college has given me ample opportunities in various fields to explore my talents. It has helped me improve my technical as well as cultural talent. Due to presence of various societies students have many opportunities to explore his/her talents.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I am a hosteler. Hostel rooms are really good but not according to the money they are taking from us. Both types of rooms are present. It's the choice of the student which type they want to live in depending on the fees of the hostel. No, college doesn't have any PG's.

Exam Structure

Yes this is one of major drawback of the college that timings of college are 8am to 5am due to which students get tired and can't give their 100 percent. Although labs are very interesting but this hectic schedule makes it hard. During exams also, students faces same problem.

Faculty

4

Faculty of thapar is as good as the reputation of thapar. All the faculties are well qualified and experienced. However, age is the factor of concern as almost faculty is overaged. Interaction between students and faculty is also good.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
