Remarks

College was good if you are focus only on gaining marks and getting a job later. It is not a place where you come to improve your extra curricular skills along with your academics because nothing of that kind is promoted by the college. There are great facilities which I think could be made use of in much better ways. Then, there is also the lack of focus on practical learning which is a major concern for me. But as of now I have had a good experience here.

Entrance Preview

The college doesn't have entrance examinations or interviews. I got admission there based on my 12th class marks. I applied in the college because I heard it's Department of Psychology is great. I had an interest in learning psychology from the beginning. I had chosen it as a subject in 12th class too. I thought it will be a kind service to the society where I could help people live a happier and less stressed out life. In the world's quickening pace, people are finding it hard to stay mentally healthy. There is still a taboo in visiting the so called "shrinks". I think people should really overcome this tendency and I wanted to do something about it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was really good if you consider the theoretical base that we were provided. There was a lack of practical sessions. Actually we were never trained for the real-life situations that a psychiatrist might have to face. They always stressed on learning from the textbooks and giving good results in exams. If that could have been a bit different the college would have been one of the best in India for the field of Psychiatry. I don't think the college is in fault entirely. The University doesn't prepare the curriculum to include the practicals, in the first place. There are research initiatives in the college though I am not really aware of its details. The electives for the undergraduates include various papers like personality development, environmental studies etc.

Internships Opportunities

Since we don't have placements, internships are really helpful when we go out for jobs. The college provides internships in the final semester. It is a great experience. Paid or unpaid both internships are available. It is the best thing we can get our hand on, practically wise, because we don't get any chance for practicals in the college. An internship experience also looks really good in our CVs , like a recommendation in itself. Yes I availed for an internship under a psychiatrist. It was overall a great experience to deal directly with the patients. I was paid 4000/- per month but money wasn't a matter for me, experience was.

Placement Experience

1.5

The Psychology course in our college does not provide any placements. Most of us went on to study post graduation. Later we are supposed to find jobs on our own. It is a kind of course which isn't filled with opportunities of placements. I myself went for the post graduation. Mostly those who get placement, were employed based on our mark sheets in college exams. So the college stresses on scoring good marks. The teachers do help in getting jobs by providing us with recommendation letters. The placements in college are mostly for there BBA, B.Com and B.Voc students.

College Events

2.5

The college doesn't organize any events or fests. The whole focus is put on academics and getting us through the examinations. There is no extracurricular activities which the students can pursue there. We were all always made to study the text books. It is a little bit depressing on a long term basis.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college is really inexpensive. Everyone could afford the fees required for the Psychology undergraduate course. It is only Rs. 5000 per year. The whole expense of the course is only 30,000 rupees. I didn't have to avail loans for the fees. It is low even when compared to other colleges, like the Delhi University. It was quite a bearable sum for all of my classmates too. The college provides nice facilities so it can't be said to be too much in any way.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are awarded to the toppers of each batch in every academic year. It is strictly based on marks. I never received any one of them. The college does not help students in availing loans. Whoever needed funding had to find it for themselves. The scholarships were the only economic support that we received from the college.

Campus Life

3.5

Only three events were organised in the college in the whole academic year. The same scenario is repeated year after year. You actually don't have much fun in college and there is nothing to look forward to. The rare events does not provide enough chances for those who are passionate about various arts and sports events. Although there were teams of the college in various sports like basketball, cricket but not much sports facilities were available. Though there were NCC, NSS & Scouts groups for the students to be a part of it.

Hostel Facilities

4

I did not stay in a hostel. But from what I know, the college hostel was really good in terms of its food. Compared to the normal hostel food we hear of, it is excellent. The rooms are double or triple sharing rooms. I don't know about the hostel fees. No, I don't think so, there are any PGs available but there were rooms available for rent in the nearby areas.

Alumni/Alumna

We were free to interact with our seniors on a personal level otherwise there isn't any official platform for alumni interaction. The college doesn't conduct any such alumni meetings. We only know our immediate seniors and the super-senior batches. I wish it was better because we would then be able to know more about our career options and such stuff.

Exam Structure

The examination schedule is really hectic. It leaves me exhausted by the end of each semester but I think it is worth it. Most of the time the frequent exams were what made me keep up with the classes on a daily basis because with the exams going on continuously one after the other, it was really necessary that I study the portions daily. Labs and all were not a part of the Psychology curriculum.

Faculty

3

Had they given more focus on practical learning too, then the standards of teaching would have been really high. But unfortunately, that isn't the case. I do not have anything else to complain about. We have four faculty members, three of whom are PhD holders and the fourth a post graduate. All of them are experienced in the field of teaching and give as much as they can into it. They all explain everything to us so that we can understand them fully. It is all good. They are all quite interactive too, in classes as well as outside the class.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers all essential topics required for higher studies. The curriculum is detailed and helps build strong subject basics. Teaching methods are traditional, so adding more interactive sessions and skill-based learning would be a great improvement. Exams take place every semester along with internal class tests, which helps in continuous evaluation without extra stress

Placement Experience:

Placements in our College are decent. Students become eligible from the 5th/6th semester, and companies from media, PR, and digital marketing fields visit for recruitment. The placement cell also provides training, internships, and guidance. After graduation, I plan to explore both campus and off-campus opportunities in media and communication fields.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm from humanities background so the course is quite relevant for me. The course is quite outdated however it's the same for most of the universities. the curriculum should be aligned with the competitive exams and the teaching methods should be more inclusive about the competitive exams so that the student can prepare well not only for the present course but also further upcoming exams.
