Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose this course because I had an interest in programming and Thapar has a good programming atmosphere with a couple of students cracking gsoc. faculty students ratio is very even and the PhD students also take classes and help us. The faculty is quite qualified with a number of teachers qualified from IITs. The teaching method is so good they teach through slides which is very effective and also you get those slides after every lecture. There is a website designed as LMS where you get every course study material. Term exams always happen on time. They give the schedule of term exams and holidays before the semester starts and the exams are always taken on time.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

MG, 3rdTech Inc., AB InBev, Aboota, Accenture India Private Limited, Accolite Software India Private Limited, Adda247 (Metis Eduventures Pvt Ltd), and Adobe provide internships with almost every role.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Various companies visit here like Google, Jp Morgan, TCS, and Wipro, and many offers are made. The highest package is 80L and the average is 11L. over 80% of students are placed here. after getting my degree I want to just get placed and work for the company.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is quite high like you have to give 25L for a 4-year btech course which is very high for moderate people. There are way more scholarships than any college like merit cum means scholarships, low-income scholarships, and many more which reduce the fees by almost 85%. Campus job placements are also good with over 80% of students getting placed. The average package is about 11L and companies like Google, JP Morgan, Tcs, etc visit here every year.

Campus Life

5

Life here is too much awesome. The annual fest is Saturnalia which is held around November with students of many colleges participating. Big colleges like IIT, and NIT also come to participate in the annual fest. In tech various hackathons are done by various societies. The library is quite big. They came to be the 7th largest library in Asia with every Kind of book journal available in it. The library is actually a 10/10. There are numerous sports complexes with annual sports competitions also being held. Inter-branch competitions are also done which is so fun to watch and play. There are many social clubs with Thapar adventure club, Mudra, Faps, Movie Club, Food Fest, Saturnalia, Linux user group, Ccs, Edc, Owasp, etc. There is also a website designed by seniors for students which contains all tut solutions and the handwritten notes of seniors. The website is Myherupa and is very much helpful for juniors it also contains past year papers with solutions.

Admission

Eligibility of course: 12th pass and Jee mains Application forms can be found on the thapar official website which is thapar.edu. the application fee is INR 250. There are numerous reservation benefits for various castes and also home state Quota is applicable for Punjab aspirants. The admission process is quite good though u can also enter through your board marks which Many colleges don't provide.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
