Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum for electronics and computer engineering consists of both the courses from electronics as well as computer in each semester but it has a little more of the electronics courses. The faculty for our department is okay but the involvement should be a little more.Exams schedule are like other colleges only you have lab evaluations before your mid terms and some quizes depending on the course and then mid sem then we have same lab evals and quizes before end sem and then the end sem but we are provided atleast one day to prepare for end sem or mid sem there might be one or two exams which might not have gap in between but it is manageable.passing is easy in our college. The placement for our branch is decent for a starting engineer but you need to be a little focused for that.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

As I mentioned before Internships are good in our college but they take around 15 students per company only so you have to put your A game there.Stipend are good of 70-90k per month by companies like BNY melon,JP morgan and chase, Barclays, Texas instruments, Bajaj, IBM, Goldmann sachs , Atlesium, Accentuate and many more.

Placement Experience

3.5

From 7th semester you can sit in placements but for internship you sit from 4th semester itself. There are lot of companies that visit our college including Apple,Goo,zomato,IBM ,JP morgan and chase ,BNY ,Barclays ,texas instruments, Bajaj and many more in my branch.80% students get placed in our branch. Some people go for further studies or in research some stick to the jop opportunities they have.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees hike for every year of 10%. But college provide scholarships for economically weaker students as well as for top 10% students of each branch every year which is a great aid for a little expensive college of ours. You can get internships with a decent stipend of 70-90k per month for good companies but some small companies give us experience but the stipend is less about 15k but it looks good on your CV. And placement is also good in our branch as we can sit in tech non tech as well as core companies so we have many options in that regard. The average salary is 11-12 lakhs per annum but if you are good you can bag upto 40 lakhs.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is awesome ,there are lots of cafes in Patiala and 1-2 decent clubs as well for more fun u can go to Chandigarh which is just 1-1.5 hrs away from the city people love the campus there are not many restrictions .But you can't roam around campus after 9 . You have to be back in your hostels by that time.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facilities are top notch which includes AC,water heater, beds, mattresses (not for 1st year),cloth hanger, water cooler on each floor ,mess facility is also better than lot of colleges as it is tied up with sodexo so you get good quality food ,we also have laundry twice a week ,these things are all included in the hostel fees itself.

Admission

To apply to Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology you have to visi their site and apply there. You can apply with your Boards marks as well as JEE score whichever is best for you, then you can select the field you want to go in after that you the college shortlists the candidates who fall in the criteria for their branches. It's quite a smooth process but you have to keep visiting the website which is www.thapar.edu

The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
