Course Curriculum Overview

Currently I'm enrolled in Aligarh Muslim University's Women's College and pursuing Bachelor's of Arts (honours)in Communicative English. I chose this course as I was always wanted ti learn English and become a English Professor. The faculty is wonderful in terms of infrastructure and faculty member are well qualified. The incharge of English in women's College is Dr. Shagufta Imtiaz, she's a wonderful professor along with learning she gave us life lessons as well. The students are good in number and teachers do interact with each student. The term exams happens on time though the lockdown did messed up n between but now exams and end sems happens in time.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 6485 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

This is a Central University therefore the fees is not so high but very affordable and the number of facilities are available is insane. Even the hostel fees is affordable. There are n number of scholarships in the campus that are given by alumni of the university. The University has its training and placement section which ensurse timely placement in renowned companies globally.

Campus Life

the social cultural aspect of our university,it has the international approach in terms of culture. The University has several clubs from drama, film, hobbies, music, eco and Debating and literary club. The students has represented University internationally and has won accolades for the University Clubs. We've annual fests like LitFest which is India's 2nd largest fest solely run by students. The zard and University founder's day celebration which iscelebrated globally by the alumni. The smart classroom, labs, the NCC camps

Admission

I've applied for English foreign language University, Hyderabad (EFLU) . The entrance exam now for this University comes under CUET(Common University Entrance Test) by NET-UGC. The form for PG-2024 were available on the official website of CUET since 27 December 2023 and last was 24 January 2024. The eligibility criteria for PG admission in EFLU is, you must have 55% in your UG result and should be a honours degree. The University is central therefore the fees is very affordable and hostel facility is also available. Other than English, there are several other foreign language courses and computational Linguistics is also there. You can easily apply for this University for UG degree as well.

Perspective as a VCW student

Likes

Facility and infrastructure is really good . In facility we get good internet connection e.g , talking about labs too , we get well equipped class and materials needed for the test , sometimes it may be bit defective aur old.
Teachers are the best things about this college. Course curriculum are designed in the way that you cover everything about the topic infact , sec , aec courses are also designed in students favour only .
The campus area and environment is good too , you may find the campus area small but it's really beautiful and peaceful , there is gym , canteen , ground with basketball and badminton court . You may not get the top notch facility but its not worse.

Dislikes

The first thing could be interior and mangement of washrooms. Canteen could be more better and provide more options . In summer , other than library we get no other sitting area , except the open classroom which are in tolerable in heat.
The bus management is worse too, I left the bus service because of their management.
The fests are not worse but could be organized in more better way .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I personally find the curriculum to be well made and in favour wit the students. In teaching methods , the subjects that demand practical exposure should be given tasks to be conducted on the real life situation, like the opportunity we get during internship . They should provide task like that .

Great learning environment, experienced faculty, and value for money education.

Likes

The faculty members are very supportive, highly experienced, and always ready to help students with their queries.
The course fee is extremely affordable and provides great value for money for students in this region.
The campus has a peaceful learning environment with a good gender ratio of around 1:1 for boys and girls.

Dislikes

On-campus placement opportunities are limited, and students mostly need to look for off-campus jobs.
Campus infrastructure needs modernization, including better Wi-Fi access and updated lab equipment.
More practical exposure and industry-oriented training programs should be added to the curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers all essential topics required for higher studies. The curriculum is detailed and helps build strong subject basics. Teaching methods are traditional, so adding more interactive sessions and skill-based learning would be a great improvement. Exams take place every semester along with internal class tests, which helps in continuous evaluation without extra stress

THE OXFORD OF THE EAST

Likes

The fees is affordable in comparison to Delhi University.
The scholarship scheme is definitely helpful for those who are economically weak.
The main campus has a central library so its quite helpful

Dislikes

The books in the central library are quite outdated
The lack of infrastructure in the affiliated colleges of AU
No merit based scholarship scheme available for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm from humanities background so the course is quite relevant for me. The course is quite outdated however it's the same for most of the universities. the curriculum should be aligned with the competitive exams and the teaching methods should be more inclusive about the competitive exams so that the student can prepare well not only for the present course but also further upcoming exams.

A Glimpse of Life in Aligarh Muslim University

I chose this college mainly because of the less fees structure and the greenary campus , a good place to study. Moreover, I'm preparing for govt exams also, so the time needed during M.tech. is enough to focus on exams too. Also, I don't want any gap between the study and job as we have to justify later during interview (the year gaps , if any). Moreover , lot of opportunities are also possible in foreign countries too , and we are also eligible for Assistant professor post (if any). I applied for Jamia Millia Islamia too , but was in waiting list , so i decided to join Aligarh Muslim University and I'm grateful that i did so....Read More

M.Ed. in Aligarh Muslim University

I applied for this college only. Highly affordable fee of course and hostel fee. Hostel provides us so many facilities in a very basic pay of 1500 per month including mess and other things. For m.ed we have to prepare for an entrance test. Forms of amu m.ed are generally out during january- march period. The paper is of 100 marks, only mcq, based on core papers of b.ed. the cutoff is around 55+ for general+external candidate and 40+ for internal. The admission process is smooth and easy. We have to check the official website and everything is online, both counselling and admission . The hostel is alotted directly during the admission....Read More
