Course Curriculum Overview

The course covers various topics which are on demand and cover industry relevant skills such as data science, cloud computing, IoT, machine learning, cryptography, operating systems, database management systems and more, This made me choose this course. The faculty:student ratio is 3:10. The faculty members are exceptional at teaching and assisting students at all times, they have both research and industry experience in various domains of computer science and engineering. Term exams depend on the semester the student is in, generally the mid-term examinations are conducted every one or two months in a semesterm, the grading method followed is relative grading hence it is difficult to pass.

Placement Experience

Students become eligibe for placements from 7th semester. The highest and average package offered at college are: 58.93LPA and around 14.10 LPA. On average 92% of students get placed. I plan to continue in my job role after degree

Fees and Financial Aid

Being a college of PPP model, the fee for this institute is relatively high compared to other national institutes but it is reasonable compared to the curriculum and facilities it offers. No financial assistance is provided by the institute directly. Currrently the institue offers 100% campus placements, but it also depends on the student's efforts for him to get a job.

Campus Life

There are 2 main fests Apoorv and Enlace. Apoorv is techno cultural fest, Enlace is cultural fest of institute which showcase arts, heritage, music and lifestyle and students. Apoorv is conducted in March and Enlace is generally in February. All kinds of books are available in library with access to thousands of ebooks via college account. Classrooms are equiped with all kinds of amenities like power sockets for each desk and multiplle projectors and speakers and most of the classrooms are AC equiped. Institute has a sports ground large enough to play multiple sports at once. There are multiple clubs setup in college like competetive coding club, cultural club, literature club, tech club - Beta Labs and litsoc, etc., all of these are run and maintained by students.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel rooms are equiped with LAN ports for students to get access to fast Ethernet and each wing in hostel has a washing machine and water cooler. Meal in college is of high quality and high quantity is available, menu is different each day consisting of north and south indian cuisines. The people in the locality are friendly but you might need to know malayalam if you want to rent a room or PG for transport or food purposes.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

Admission

Students get admitted through JEE Mains exam, the general cutoff for this college is 95% and above in JEE Mains exam, M.Tech program is also offered for candidates who apply through IIIT Kottayam online portal, according to following criteria Eligibility for M.Tech courses: ->they should hold a Btech/BE/AMIE degree or MCA or MSc/MS degree in CS/IT/Mathematics/Physics/Statistics ->Minimum of 60% in degree examination is required. Details of Reservation Benefits: The college does not provide any reservation benefits on it's own but helps the student in completing and forwarrding the neccessary documents and certificates The admission process is seamless and hassle free.

Good life memory

Likes

College ambience was too attractive. Friendly atmosphere ആൻഡ് very nice hidden spots and food spots inside the college
The faculty was too supportive and encouragive nature that was also in studies and extra curricular activities also that be very kind of them
There is not only aim to study but also encourage the extra activities. The management was also very supportive to students and also the faculties.

Dislikes

There is very strict to attendence. There was not to bunk the class every hour there will take the attendence and there will be absent they autimaticaly send sms to registerd phone
There is too many exams and assignments that will be little bit problem for students
Canteen facilities little bit bad in my college life time. There was not that much food veriety

Placement Experience:

From 6 th semester onwards campus placement taken. There was coming in bcs, infopark, wipro, etc. Companies are mainly appeared and also many other companies came select many students. The main companies take students in cutoff 8.5or9 cgpa. And some other compnies take students they have backpapers.

I choose btech cse cause it was the trending course at that time and I was computer science student in my high school so it was best for me to choose btech cse at that time. And I believe it cold be a great career choice

This college is not what it seems in the first look.

Likes

College was at a beautiful place. It was not a city but a beautiful place.
Hostel was great. I got many friends from there.
These are the only things that I can think of.

Dislikes

Teachers, they are horrible one one teacher named aparna was professional and ethical. My HOD was the worst.
Principal is the worst. She does not hear students side. She is money minded. I had a fee pending for not more than 2 week. When I went to her for signing my medical report she demanded that she will sign only after I paid that fee
The college does not encourage extra curricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Likes

Decent infrastructure. hostel infrastructure is also clean and better than most colleges

Dislikes

Very poor campus life. No importance for cultural programmes and activities
Very poor and degrading environment for women. Faculties and other staff are very judgemental.
Very low packages for average students. Placement training is regularly being provided, but it is too hectic to be managed along with curriculum.

Placement Experience:

students become eligible for placements after sixth semester. Major companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, e.t.c are recruiters. about 5-10 students are recuited on average by these companies. highest package was offered by south indian bank in 2023 (10 LPA). average packges are around 2 to 3 LPA.

We have a very good faculty family that is not only supportive but also loving.

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester we are eligible for the placements. They provide placement training sessions in the college itself. Computer Science department has almost hundred percent placements. Also there is mtech in the college if you prefer higher studies.

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

After 6 th semester students become eligible for placements . It's in the final years . Many companies have visited the college and made offers for the students like Wipro,Tenzo tech , infopark etc Around 70 Percent students get placement

When it comes to the campus life, I enjoyed all the 4 years
The infrastructure was okayish Could've improved.
The faculty was really friendly and I was able to approach them without any hesitation.

Dislikes

The road from the junction to the college is not at all maintained. Students coming up the hill find it very difficult to reach college
The bus fees are increased every year. But these people can't find a way to provide seats for the students after paying their bus fee.
Some other campus offer many varieties of food in their canteen. This has to be done here too

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.

Yeah well, positive things are there. I got many friends. I got a degree. I learned much personal and professional knowledge. I also learned how to live independently for 4 years without parents alone somewhere.

I cleared JEE MAINS and on the basis of my rank, I applied for many colleges. I was specifically looking for the top two engineering branches that is Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering and have applied for many but could not get into it due to higher rank category. Earlier I got Civil Engineering in NIT SILCHAR then I got Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIIT KOTTAYAM. I preferred IIIT KOTTAYAM over NIT SILCHAR because of the branch since Electronics and Communication Engineering is considered the second best branch after Computer Science Engineering. Yes, I got rejection from other colleges because the eligibility criteria for those colleges were securing high rank but my rank was not up to the mark. To get into such colleges , students need to clear Jee Mains and secure a good rank to get into such colleges. For general category , students need to get the rank under 30000 to get admission to such colleges. Colleges are listed via Josaa Counselling. Admission procedure is the student need to bring some of the important documents such as 10th and 12th board marksheet , category paper , jee rank and other such important documents to get into the admission procedure. Dark Reality of IIIT Kottayam

The college has a very attractive campus and it is very new so the facilities are also relatively new. no placements but good to explore your interests
