Life at KIIT

I choose B Tech in Information Technology because at that IT industry is at boom. Course curriculum of KIIT is good but I feel it's little bit old and also only few teacher's are very good. In one class there is about 100 students. All the teachers here are qualified but most of them didn't know how to teach in good way. In a semester there are 2 exams, one is mid-sem which consists of 20 marks and other is end-sem which consists of 50 marks, remaining 30 is internal marks. Passing this exam is very easy if your teacher are good but in every semester you will get 1-2 teacher who are very strict and cut your marks unnecessarily which can badly affect your overall CGPA. You have to be smart at the time of Teacher Selection.

Internships opportunities started from 5th Semester and companies like Atlassian, Amazon, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Trilogy, Twilio, CSG, rt camp, etc comes to campus for different roles like Software Engineer Inter, SDE inter, Web Devlpoment intern, etc. Also in 6th Semester HRC comes to campus for mass hiring for internship and there you will select easily and work on some good projects.

Placements here are not too good not bad. From 6th semester, companies started visiting campuses for internships, few companies also come in 5th Sem for internships. Main placements starts from the starting of 7th sem. Many good companies visited here like Atlassian, Amazon, JP Morgan, rt camp, Razorpay, etc. but they offered very few students like 2-3 out of 4000+, so you have to really good in both academics and in skills. For 2024 batch, over 150+ companies visited but still more than 1500 students remain unplaced. Average package at kiit is approx. 6.5lpa and highest package offered till now is 63 lpa by Yugabyte, but never run behind this fancies numbers as only 1 or 2 students able to grab this out of 4000+.

Fees Structure in KIIT is very high. They charge 1,77,000 per semester for academics and 40,000 per semester for Hostel (2 Bed AC) and also they charge one time 90,000 fee for laptops and other stuffs which results in over 18lac for 4 year. If you won any prizes in sport at state level then they provide some scholarship. Coming to placement, I'm in final Semester and till now I didn't got any job offer, not only me over 1000+ students are unplaced till now but in some sites you may see that KIIT claims 100% placement and this is totally fake. Majority of the students got offer between 4-5lpa and after spending approx. 20lac I think this is totally waste of time. So think twice thrice before getting into KIIT. If you are a rich kid then its ok, but if you're from mid-class family then I request you please don't waste your parents precious money. Get admission in any other college having less fee and worked hard, believe me you will be at better place than most of the students at KIIT.

Life at campus of KIIT is one of the best in India. I think this is the only benefit you see when you get admission into this college, I think they spent most of the money in decorating campus. But one worst thing I face is that there are over 20 campus in total so if your Hostel is in Campus-6 and classes are in campus-12 or campus-14, you have to walk aprrox. 1.5-2km and the classes are held in two shifts so you have to walk more 6km per day and bhubaneswar is one of the hottest city in india, so for me its very difficult to survive here in summer. Talking about Library, this is the place which I loved most in kiit, there is a world class central library and I spent most of the times here in summer. Also there is varoius campuses for sports, so if you are a sport lover then I think it's best place but again you have to walk alot.

Hostel rooms here are good enough as compared to other colleges hostels. Also, there is a facility of washing machines, RO, warm water, etc. Meal quality is also good again comparing to other hostels. Here there is policy of change in meal every 2 months, and sometimes it is choosed by students only. Registration process is very simple, you get all the details at the time of boarding.

I applied for KIITEE Exam whose application fee is free of cost through their official site (kiitee.kiit.ac.in). Eligibility criteria is 50% in 12th. I secured aprrox. 14k Rank and in 1st round of counselling, I alloted Civil branch but I didn't select it, but in 2nd round of counselling, they offered IT branch and I got admission in this college.
