What Students Say
Likes
- Flexibility of exams and assignments is good.
- Exposure is great since students from all over India and abroad are here.
- A lot of celebrations all year round, many societies are also available.
Dislikes
- 75% attendance is mandatory and teachers push you to maintain 95% even in second and third year's or get less marks in internals.
- Cost is extremely high but the placements are not that good in comparison.
- Many teachers do partiality and give more marks to a few students especially if they are odia.
Course Curriculum Overview
Here the exams, assignments and activities conducted are sometimes very flexible, cannot be found in a lot of other colleges so that was a plus. And the course curriculum is relevant, they begin preparing you for the placements by conducting special classes from second year, and also there are a lot of teachers assigned these things and as mentors from whom we can take help. Area of improvement can be a little more focus on theory than practicals so encouragement for hands on learning is not that high. Frequency and timings of exams are not great, one semester completed in n 4 months and with 2 exams in between back to back, with a vast syllabus and a few useless subjects which is just a source of unnecessary anxiety and nervousness.
Internships Opportunities
There is one major project and minor project in third and fourth years depending on which and your performance in the training classes you are eligible to sit for the companies. Companies like TCS,Wipro and Autodesk were common.
Placement Experience
Highest package was over 60 lakhs and average was 6.5 lpa last year. Almost all students get placed since there's a cell that takes care of that. I want to do jobs for a few years and try to shift abroad after graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Complete cost of college and expenses is well over 20 lakhs and quite a few scholarships are available but it's not easy to get them and hold on to that. Quite a few scholarships are available but it's difficult to hold on to them.
Campus Life
There is only one fest that comprises both technical and cultural. Apart from that other celebrations are also there. Books are available and library is good but not accessible to all students, depends on the seniority. Facilities within class rooms are great but they are small.
Hostel Facilities
Only 3-bhk rooms are mostly available (AC and non-AC) and a few 2 bhk rooms are also there in the premium hostels but cost over 1 lakh per semester and they deliberately withhold them and say they are not available. Meal quality is okay, not good or bad, depends on hostel. Registration process is long.
Admission
To be eligibility we just need to show 12th grade certificate and percentage in science (should be above 60% aggregate) and there were fine phase tests over a range of a few months and in there the results were also available from which you can know for which btech curriculum you have been selected. There are no reservations as such. Details about application process can be found on their website. Frequency and timings of exams were okay, also the test wasn't that difficult.
